YN 17042 – M/Y Alive completes sea trials

M/Y Alive equipped with Hull Vane® completes sea trials and exceeds contractual speed by 0.5 knots!
Heesen Yachts is delighted to announce that the sea trials of YN 17042 – M/Y Alive – were successfully completed in open waters in a slight sea state (0.70m waves) with 3-4 SW winds.
M/Y Alive reached the remarkable maximum speed of 16.4 knots, exceeding the contractual speed by 0.5 knots!
The contractual fuel consumption prediction proved to be correct: 4000nm at 12 knots. Over 750 miles come free of charge thanks to her remarkably frugal fuel consumption, that is 30 per cent less than on a conventional displacement yacht.
This is an important achievement and statement for this Dutch shipyard, as M/Y Alive is the first luxury vessel equipped with Hull Vane®.
The Hull Vane® is an under water foil that harnesses waves to produce power; this in combination with the Fast Displacement Hull Form and conventional diesel engines produces remarkable results. Proven during independent research conducted by Van Oossanen Naval Architects at two of the world’s most respected hydrodynamic laboratories — Wolfson Unit and Marin — it is today confirmed at sea.
M/Y Alive was delivered to her Owners on November 4, 2014.

About Heesen Yachts
Founded by Frans Heesen in 1978 in Oss, the Netherlands, Heesen Yachts was the first Dutch shipyard to employ aluminium alloy for the building of yacht hulls. Since then the shipyard has become a world leader in the design, engineering and construction of high performance, all-aluminium motor yachts.
In 1992 Heesen Yachts expanded their business to include the construction of traditional displacement, long-range steel-hulled yachts, and today the company can also deliver magnificent private yachts within the 37 to 70 metres size range and beyond.
In 35 years we have delivered nearly 170 yachts. The current fleet includes aluminium, steel, displacement, semi-displacement, the revolutionary fast displacement, and our new technology called Hull Vane®. Eleven yachts are currently under construction and their deliveries span through to 2017.
Heesen is financially secure, large enough to cope with complex construction, small enough to care about each project, motivated to pioneer innovations and dedicated to continuing the tradition of Dutch quality shipbuilding.
