CRN is an Italian full-custom superyacht builder based in Ancona and part of Ferretti Group. Founded in 1963 by Sanzio Nicolini, the yard developed from its Adriatic shipbuilding roots into one of Italy’s most recognised names in large custom yacht construction.

The name CRN originally stood for Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali, reflecting the yard’s early focus on ship construction and repair. Over time, CRN became closely associated with bespoke superyachts, particularly steel and aluminium displacement yachts designed around individual owner requirements. Its work helped establish Ancona as one of Italy’s important centres for large-yacht construction.

Today, CRN specialises in fully custom yachts built from steel and aluminium, with projects created from a blank sheet rather than a fixed production model. The shipyard works closely with owners, designers, architects and project teams to create yachts with distinctive exterior styling, highly personalised interiors and complex technical specifications.

As part of Ferretti Group’s Superyacht Yard in Ancona, CRN benefits from a large production centre shared with other Ferretti Group superyacht activities. The Ancona facility supports new construction, outfitting, engineering, launch operations and specialist large-yacht services. Ferretti Group describes the Ancona production centre as the site for CRN, Riva Superyachts Division, Pershing 140 and the Custom Line fleet.

CRN yachts are often recognised for their large volumes, Italian styling, high levels of customisation and technically ambitious owner-led layouts. The yard has delivered a number of significant yachts over 60 metres, including several projects that have become widely known within the international superyacht fleet.
