Superyacht Guide Awards are editorial ratings based on available information and review criteria.
Dilbar is one of the most significant motor yachts ever built and is widely recognised as the largest yacht in the world by gross tonnage. Built by Lürssen and delivered in 2016, she measures approximately 156 metres and has a reported volume of 15,917 GT.
The yacht was built under the project name Omar and represents one of Lürssen’s most complex custom yacht projects. Her exterior design is by Espen Øino International, with interior design by Winch Design. Her scale, volume and technical complexity place her among the defining giga yachts of the modern era.
Dilbar’s exterior has a strong, monumental profile, with a long blue hull, massive superstructure and extensive deck areas. She is not merely long; her importance lies in her extraordinary volume, which allows for some of the largest interior and recreation spaces ever installed on a private yacht.
Lürssen has highlighted Dilbar’s 25-metre swimming pool, described as the largest pool ever installed on a yacht, holding around 180 cubic metres of water. Other publicly reported features include two helipads, extensive wellness and recreation areas, cinema, sauna and massage facilities.
Public specifications describe Dilbar as accommodating up to 24 guests in 12 staterooms, with a crew complement of around 96. Her diesel-electric propulsion system and engineering platform were developed for a yacht of exceptional volume and complexity.
Dilbar has also become one of the most publicly discussed superyachts because of sanctions-related enforcement. German authorities announced in 2022 that the yacht had been legally immobilised following investigations into beneficial ownership structures connected to Alisher Usmanov’s family. Ownership and legal status should therefore be described cautiously and with reference to public reporting rather than presented as simple private ownership.
As a yacht, Dilbar is exceptional for her volume, technical complexity, amenities and significance in modern large-yacht construction. She remains a benchmark project for Lürssen and one of the most important giga yachts ever delivered.
