Flying Fox is one of the largest and most prominent charter-capable motor yachts in the world. Built by Lürssen and delivered in 2019 under the project name Project SHU, she measures approximately 136 metres and combines German large-yacht engineering with expansive guest amenities and a strong charter-market profile.
The yacht has exterior design by Espen Øino International and interior design by Mark Berryman Design. Her exterior is long, clean and contemporary, with a dark hull, broad white superstructure, multiple decks and a purposeful profile suited to a yacht intended for extensive private and charter use.
Flying Fox is widely known for her exceptional wellness and leisure facilities. Public charter material highlights a two-level spa area of around 400 square metres, a 12-metre swimming pool, cinema with D-Box seating, extensive gym and treatment spaces, and large exterior decks for entertaining and relaxation.
The yacht is reported to accommodate up to 25 guests in 11 cabins, supported by a large crew of around 54. Her guest arrangement includes a large owner’s apartment and multiple VIP and guest suites, giving her the capacity and service structure expected of one of the world’s largest charter yachts.
Other notable features include twin helipads, a large beach club, multiple tenders, watersports equipment, extensive deck lounges and long-range cruising capability. Public charter sources also describe a wide selection of water toys, including jet skis, inflatable towables, diving equipment and other guest equipment suitable for a yacht of this scale.
Technically, Flying Fox is a full-displacement steel and aluminium motor yacht powered by twin MTU diesel engines. She is reported to reach a top speed of around 20 knots, cruise at about 15 knots and have a range of approximately 6,500 nautical miles.
Flying Fox is significant because she combines giga yacht scale with a highly developed charter and guest-experience platform. Her facilities, volume and wellness focus make her one of the most complete large charter yachts in operation.
