Galactica Super Nova is a 70-metre high-performance motor yacht built by Heesen and delivered in 2016. At the time of her launch, she was the largest yacht built by Heesen and one of the fastest aluminium superyachts in her class.
The yacht has exterior design by Espen Øino International, with interiors by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design and naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects in cooperation with Heesen. She uses Heesen’s fast-displacement hull technology, giving her a combination of speed, efficiency and long-range capability unusual for a yacht of her size.
Galactica Super Nova has a sleek, athletic exterior profile, with a long bow, low superstructure and open aft decks. Her aluminium construction and powerful propulsion arrangement allow a reported top speed of around 30 knots, making her notably faster than many displacement yachts in the 70-metre class.
The yacht is reported to accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 cabins, supported by a crew of around 16. Her guest facilities include a large sundeck, pool, beach club, tender garage and flexible outdoor entertaining spaces.
One of her most recognisable features is the large glass-bottom swimming pool on the main deck aft, which can also be converted into a dance floor or entertainment space. Public sources also refer to a waterfall feature, outdoor cinema and extensive watersports equipment.
Galactica Super Nova is important within Heesen’s fleet because she demonstrated the yard’s ability to produce a very large, fast, technically advanced aluminium yacht. She remains a strong example of Dutch performance yacht building at superyacht scale.
