History was made at the Superyacht Cup Palma today when the 24m Wally yacht Rose became the first ever three-time winner of the iconic event, remarkably completing the achievement over three successive years on the Bay of Palma.

Heading into the final day of racing — the St. Regis Race Day — at the 29th edition of the Superyacht Cup Palma, three yachts were tied at the top of the overall scoreboard, with Cervo, Gelliceaux and Rose each on four points and with all to play for in magnificent sailing conditions once again off Mallorca.

In the five yacht Class A it was a straightforward contest between the 39m Tripp design Cervo and the Farr designed 35m Southern Wind yacht Gelliceaux — the victor today would win the class and possibly the overall title. In the event Gelliceaux won the deciding duel with her rival by just over a minute on corrected time.

Attention then switched to Class B and Rose . Here the defending SYC title holder was racing against the Y Yacht Sveam and a quartet of Baltic 68 Café Racers: Ganesha , Open Season, Pink Gin Verde and Scorpione Hormar . While Open Season took three race wins on her way to class victory, neither she nor the other Café Racers were eligible for the overall SYC title as they are not categorised as superyachts.
