SEA CLOUD is a 109.5-metre classic four-masted barque built in 1931 by Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft in Kiel for Marjorie Merriweather Post and Edward F. Hutton. Originally launched as HUSSAR, she was built to plans by Gibbs & Cox and was among the largest private sailing yachts of her era.

The steel yacht carries 29 sails with a total sail area of 3,000 square metres. Sea Cloud Cruises publishes a beam of 14.94 metres and a draught of 5.13 metres, while current registry and insurance records identify her as a Malta-flagged vessel with IMO 8843446, call sign 9HOM2, MMSI 256084000 and 2,532 GT.

SEA CLOUD has had an unusually long and varied career. During the Second World War she served on weather patrol after being chartered for United States Coast Guard service, and over the decades she also carried the names Angelita, Patria and Antarna before returning to SEA CLOUD.

Before the current rebuild, Sea Cloud Cruises published accommodation for up to 64 passengers in 32 outside cabins with approximately 60 crew. The new programme changes that operating model substantially: owners’ representative YANOVA says the completed yacht is intended to return to the cruise and charter market with a reduced guest complement of 20 and a much higher service ratio.

SEA CLOUD arrived in Malta in November 2025 for an extensive rebuild at Palumbo Malta. The work is intended to return the yacht closer to her original 1930s appearance while renewing machinery, generators, safety systems and other technical equipment. Reviva Refit is also fabricating a complete new set of steel sailing masts in Tuzla for shipment to Malta and installation aboard.
