Yacht Financial Intelligence

Yacht Financial Intelligence brings together estimated values, operating expenditure, capital reserves, refit history and source evidence to provide a clearer view of the financial scale of yacht ownership.

Understanding yacht ownership costs

Superyacht Guide Yacht Financial Intelligence examines the financial scale and structure of owning and operating an individual yacht. It separates routine annual operating expenditure from major capital expenditure, refit work and long-term ownership reserves.

Yacht ownership costs are rarely represented by one reliable public figure. Crew, berthing, technical management, maintenance, insurance, fuel, regulatory compliance, communications, provisions and administration may all be recorded differently or may not be disclosed publicly.

What Financial Intelligence covers

A yacht profile may include its estimated current value, annual operating expenditure, crew costs, berthing, insurance, maintenance, engineering, technical management, fuel, administration, compliance expenditure, capital reserves and reported refit transactions.

The system may also calculate indicative monthly and five-year ownership costs, while keeping annual operating expenditure separate from acquisition expenditure, financing and major capital projects.

Reported, source-derived and estimated figures

Every financial record is classified according to its evidential basis. A reported figure may come from filed accounts, court documents, public contracts, sale material or another identifiable source. A source-derived figure is calculated from published information. An estimated figure is produced using a stated Superyacht Guide methodology.

Confidence levels reflect the authority, completeness and consistency of the available evidence. Estimated figures are not represented as audited facts, and information that cannot be established is not silently presented as confirmed expenditure.

Superyacht Guide methodology

Yacht-specific evidence is used wherever credible information is available. Where sufficient direct evidence does not exist, Superyacht Guide may use clearly labelled calculations based on yacht value, size, age, machinery, crew complement, operating profile and comparable ownership data.

The established Superyacht Guide fallback methodology estimates annual operating expenditure at approximately 14 per cent of yacht value where no stronger yacht-specific evidence is available. This is an indicative analytical fallback rather than a statement of actual audited expenditure.

Sources and continuing review

Profiles may draw on company accounts, official registries, court records, brokerage material, builder information, regulatory filings, public contracts, credible reporting and clearly explained Superyacht Guide calculations.

Each profile carries a review date, methodology version, confidence level and source records where available. Figures may change when new accounts, valuations, sales information, refit records or other verified evidence becomes available.

Important limitations

Financial Intelligence may include reported expenditure, source-derived calculations and indicative estimates. It does not constitute audited accounts, a professional valuation, a purchase quotation, tax advice, investment advice or financial advice.

Owners, buyers and advisers should undertake appropriate financial, legal, technical and operational due diligence before relying on yacht ownership figures for a transaction or operating decision.
