Superyacht Guide

Superyacht Data Methodology

How Superyacht Guide collects, structures, verifies and presents yacht fleet data, market intelligence and editorial research.

About Superyacht Guide data

Superyacht Guide maintains a structured yacht database used for public fleet profiles, builder information, market overview pages and future industry intelligence reports. The database currently includes thousands of yacht records, including both public image-approved profiles and draft records undergoing further review.

Data sources

Superyacht Guide data may be compiled from:

  • official builder and shipyard websites
  • official yacht and fleet pages
  • publicly available yacht databases and industry references
  • brokerage and charter information where publicly available
  • press releases and official company announcements
  • editorial research and structured data imports
  • corrections or updates submitted by owners, captains, brokers, builders or companies

Public profiles and draft records

Not every yacht record in the database is immediately visible in the public fleet directory. Superyacht Guide may hold draft or unpublished yacht records while images, sources, specifications or editorial details are being reviewed.

Public fleet visibility is controlled separately from database inclusion. A yacht may exist in the database but remain hidden from the public fleet until it has a suitable approved primary image and sufficient public-quality information.

Image policy

Superyacht Guide aims to use official, safe, credited or otherwise appropriate images for public yacht profiles. Image-less yacht records may be retained internally as draft data but are not intended to be displayed as public fleet profiles until suitable images are added.

Structured yacht fields

The database may include fields such as:

  • yacht name and previous names
  • builder and country of build
  • launch or delivery year
  • length, beam, draught and gross tonnage
  • guest and crew capacity
  • construction material
  • naval architecture, exterior design and interior design
  • speed, range, machinery, fuel capacity and water capacity where available
  • source notes and editorial review notes

Market intelligence use

Superyacht Guide Intelligence uses structured yacht records to produce market signals such as fleet size by length band, builder rankings, build-country summaries, fleet age analysis and refit opportunity indicators.

These reports are intended to support editorial insight, business research and industry context for shipyards, brokers, marinas, refit yards, designers, suppliers and service providers.

Estimates and limitations

Some intelligence figures are based on structured records and direct counts. Other future figures, such as operating-spend estimates, refit opportunity or market-size estimates, may use editorial assumptions and should be treated as indicative.

Superyacht Guide data is not class approval, safety certification, legal advice, financial advice, technical survey, ownership confirmation or proof of seaworthiness.

Corrections and updates

Superyacht Guide welcomes factual corrections, updated specifications, official images and source references from owners, captains, representatives, shipyards, brokers and companies.

Records may be corrected, merged, updated, unpublished or removed where better evidence becomes available.

Editorial independence

Superyacht Guide editorial ratings, award notes, data summaries and intelligence reports are separate from paid advertising, promotional listings or featured placements. Paid visibility does not guarantee a rating, ranking, award or editorial conclusion.
