Superyacht Guide Awards are editorial ratings based on available information and review criteria.

Simena is a 62-metre performance cruising ketch built by ARES Yachts in Antalya. Her naval architecture and classically inspired exterior design are by Taka Yacht Design, with interiors by Design Unlimited. Launched in July 2025 and completed as a 2026 yacht, she combines a traditional clipper-influenced profile with an AH36 steel hull, advanced composite superstructure and modern hybrid engineering.

Her parallel hybrid propulsion system combines an 882 kW MAN diesel engine, a 220 kW electric motor, three Caterpillar generator sets and a Servogear controllable-pitch propeller. The installation supports conventional diesel propulsion, quiet electric operation, onboard power generation, hydro-regeneration under sail and pure sailing with the propeller feathered. ARES Yachts reports a maximum speed of 14 knots, an 11-knot cruising speed and a range of approximately 4,000 nautical miles.

Accommodation is provided for 12 guests in six cabins, including a full-beam owner’s suite forward on the main deck, three double guest cabins and two twin cabins. Nine crew are accommodated in four crew cabins. Exterior facilities include an aft Jacuzzi, extensive cockpit dining and lounging areas, a private foredeck lounge, a recessed flybridge and direct access to the sea through a side-opening boarding platform.

Sources, assumptions and methodology

Indicative SYG estimate. Value basis: current public asking price of €45,900,000. Central annual OPEX uses the established 14% of yacht value fallback. Low and high cases reflect utilisation, condition, crewing, fuel, berthing and maintenance uncertainty. Capital reserve is shown separately from routine OPEX.

Simena is a recently completed, RINA-classed sailing yacht built for unrestricted navigation under the Red Ensign Group Yacht Code. No verified casualty or material safety concern was identified in the public evidence reviewed. Her principal operational exposures arise from the complexity of the hybrid propulsion installation, high-load sailing systems, tender-crane operations and electronically controlled machinery. Detailed onboard maintenance, battery, fire-protection, cyber-security and crew-performance records are not publicly available.

Principal risk areas
Area Assessment Confidence Basis
Cyber and electronic control systems Information unavailable Low Electronic propulsion control and integrated operating modes require network segregation, access control, software management and tested local or manual fallback. No yacht-specific cyber-security evidence was found publicly.
Pollution and environmental exposure No material concern identified Medium The builder reports hybrid propulsion, hydro-regeneration capability and a four-star SEA Index rating. This supports reduced-emissions potential but does not establish daily pollution-prevention performance.
Fire and electrical systems Standard exposure Medium Hybrid propulsion, three generator sets, power electronics and extensive hotel loads create the normal electrical and machinery-space exposure of a large modern yacht. Public information does not disclose battery chemistry, detection zoning or detailed suppression arrangements.
Flooding and watertight integrity Standard exposure Low The steel hull and unrestricted-navigation classification provide positive design evidence. Detailed subdivision, bilge capacity, high-level alarm, sea-chest and watertight-closure records are not publicly available.
Crew and human factors Information unavailable Low Public information confirms accommodation for nine crew but does not establish qualifications, familiarisation, drill performance, hours of rest or safety-management effectiveness.
Hybrid propulsion and control Standard exposure Medium The multi-mode propulsion arrangement is comparatively complex, but the builder reports fail-safe design, redundancy and completed operational testing. Mode-change, blackout-recovery and manual-fallback procedures remain important operational controls.
Machinery reliability Standard exposure Medium The main diesel installation is supported by electric propulsion capability and three generator sets. Public records do not disclose commissioning defects, maintenance history or machinery condition-monitoring results.
Navigation, collision and grounding Standard exposure Medium A 62-metre sailing yacht with a 4.72-metre draught and tall rig requires careful berth, bridge, shallow-water and restricted-water planning. Bow and stern thrusters support close-quarters manoeuvring.
Rigging and sailing operations Standard exposure Medium The large ketch rig introduces high-load sailing, winch, furling, mast, standing-rigging and deck-exclusion-zone exposures requiring disciplined inspection and operating procedures.
Tender and lifting operations Standard exposure Medium The yacht carries a custom tender and rescue boat handled by crane. Principal exposures include suspended loads, fuel, sea state, crew positioning and securing arrangements.
