Danieli, Venezia Reopens as a Four Seasons Hotel

Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel has reopened on the Riva degli Schiavoni, beginning a new chapter for one of Venice’s best-known historic hotels. The property is welcoming guests with 120 rooms and suites, while the restoration of Palazzo Danieli Excelsior is set to increase the total accommodation count to 168 in 2027.

Palazzo Dandolo enters a new era

The hotel’s architectural story centres on Palazzo Dandolo, built in 1471 as the residence of the noble Dandolo family, alongside Palazzo Casa Nuova and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior. Four Seasons says Palazzo Dandolo and Casa Nuova have been renovated by interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, balancing the buildings’ historic character with a more contemporary interpretation.

The restored lobby draws particular attention to its hand-painted gilded ceiling, stonework, columns and grand staircase. Murano glass, terrazzo flooring, Venetian mirrors and bespoke Rubelli textiles continue the connection with local craft throughout the interiors.

Rooms look toward the lagoon and city

The restoration has introduced more spacious layouts and an expanded selection of Junior Suites and One-Bedroom Suites within Palazzo Dandolo and Palazzo Casa Nuova. Rooms and suites look toward the Venetian Lagoon, canals or rooftops, placing the city itself at the centre of the accommodation experience.

Contemporary technology has been integrated more discreetly, including automated curtains, customisable lighting and climate controls. Four Seasons also describes bespoke in-room media walls that incorporate televisions among artwork and decorative objects rather than treating technology as a dominant visual feature.

Terrazza Danieli returns above the lagoon

The rooftop Terrazza Danieli has also been redesigned, retaining its panoramic outlook toward San Giorgio Maggiore while introducing a lighter palette of pastels, azure accents and muted gold tones. Mirrored surfaces and an outdoor terrace in warmer terracotta tones are intended to keep the lagoon view as the focal point.

Executive Chef Adriano Rausa leads the restaurant with a contemporary approach to Italian cuisine and a Venetian influence, supported by seasonal ingredients and local producers. Several dishes are finished tableside, while the bar develops the Italian aperitivo tradition through contemporary interpretations of classic cocktails.

The restoration is not yet finished

Danieli’s redevelopment will continue later in 2026 with the planned opening of Danieli Spa. Four Seasons says the spa will contain three treatment rooms, including one for couples, together with a sauna and hammam.

The reopening also gives Four Seasons its fourth property in Italy, joining hotels in Milan and Florence and San Domenico Palace in Taormina.
