SPORT, formerly SPACE, retains the dramatic central glass staircase introduced aboard Feadship’s first F45 Vantage yacht.
SPORT carries an unusual piece of modern Feadship history behind her earlier name SPACE. Delivered in 2007 as the first of six F45 Vantage yachts, the 44.65-metre vessel was personalised with a central circular glass staircase and later returned to the Kaag yard for an extensive 2024 refit.
A staircase that became the signature
The original owner chose a circular glass stair with a polished stainless-steel structure and illuminated steps. It gives the interior a recognisable vertical feature, connecting the accommodation visually rather than treating circulation as a purely functional corridor.
The builder describes the choice as a specific act of personalisation within a rare semi-custom chapter in Feadship’s history. It is not an assumption that all six F45 Vantage yachts received the same stair arrangement.
A compact but substantial interior
At 44.65 metres with a 9.2-metre beam, SPORT makes use of a relatively broad hull for its length. The published arrangement has four guest staterooms for eight passengers, placing privacy and indoor space at the centre of the original brief.
Donald Starkey Designs is credited for the interior, while Studio De Voogt and Sinot are associated with the exterior design. These credits relate to hull 796 and should not be transferred to other Vantage yachts with different interior commissions.
An established yacht returns home
The yacht returned to Feadship’s Kaag yard for comprehensive refit work in 2024. The return demonstrates how an established build can receive a later phase of attention without losing its original identity or history.
The builder’s current page shows SPORT as the name and SPACE as the launch name. A current profile needs both to keep earlier photographs, articles and yacht records connected to the same vessel.
An architectural idea across generations
An illuminated staircase may be small beside a large swimming pool or helipad, yet it shapes the daily experience of moving between decks. It provides a visual centre to a residential environment intended for extended time aboard.
The accompanying official image depicts the yacht in her SPACE-era presentation and is credited as an archive photo. It is not offered as an image of an undisclosed 2026 refit or a different Feadship.
