VALOR is an explorer yacht whose onboard accommodation is designed to be enjoyed far from the familiar Mediterranean circuit. Feadship’s 79.5-metre hull 715 combines a contra-flow infinity pool and fully equipped beach club with a Bannenberg & Rowell interior, while the engineering brief extends to travel in colder regions.
A pool intended for actual use
The builder identifies a contra-flow infinity pool, allowing a swimmer to work against an artificial current. It gives the upper leisure programme a more active purpose than a pool designed solely for cooling off on a hot afternoon.
The dedicated beach club offers another place to spend time near the water when conditions permit. Swimming operations, deck openings and the use of technical equipment are subject to crew procedures rather than unrestricted guest access.
An interior with its own identity
Bannenberg & Rowell Design developed the interior with natural materials and sculptural features. The visual direction supports a calm residential setting while allowing the yacht’s unusually demanding expedition engineering to remain largely behind the scenes.
Studio De Voogt designed the exterior, with walk-around decks and substantial outdoor spaces. The design partnership shows how one vessel can have the atmosphere of a private residence and the practical requirements of a long-range cruising platform.
Built for the edges of the map
A two-metre ice belt around the steel hull supports the yacht’s Bureau Veritas Young Ice 2 notation. The original owner’s brief included the prospect of a Northwest Passage journey, a demanding form of expedition cruising rather than a conventional summer route.
A notation does not replace specialised passage planning or mean every ice condition is safe. The design gives the vessel a defined capability, while actual navigation depends on crew decisions, weather and local restrictions.
Quiet power behind the experience
VALOR has a 5.34 MWh battery bank integrated into a hybrid diesel-electric arrangement with solar support. Feadship’s published cruising range is approximately 5,087 nautical miles at eleven knots, subject to the final operating circumstances.
