Jimbaran Cinema runs on Sunday and Monday evenings, using CineWav personal audio so the beach remains quiet while guests watch films under the stars.
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay has launched Jimbaran Cinema at Coconut Grove, combining a beachfront film screening with sunset seating, personal audio through guests’ own earphones and full in-seat food service. The format keeps the beach’s natural soundscape audible throughout the evening.
Cinema without loudspeakers
The defining feature is the absence of a conventional public sound system. Guests stream the film soundtrack to their own phones through CineWav and listen on personal earphones, allowing the waves and evening atmosphere to remain audible around the screening.
That decision turns what could have been a standard outdoor movie night into something better suited to the beach. The film remains private to each guest while the shared environment stays relatively quiet.
Sunset before the screen lights up
The evening begins at 6:00 pm with guests choosing between bean bags, sun beds and armchair sofas at Coconut Grove. A welcome drink accompanies the sunset before the film starts at 7:00 pm, so the experience builds gradually rather than beginning with the first frame.
Sunday screenings lean toward family-friendly films while Mondays are positioned more toward couples. That small change in programming lets the resort use the same setting for different audiences without changing the basic format.
Beach food delivered to the seat
Food and drinks are served throughout the film, with options including lobster rolls, coconut crab nachos, Korean-style fried chicken and truffle parmesan fries. Popcorn, a candy shop and ice cream add the more familiar cinema rituals.
For guests wanting a more elaborate evening, the resort also offers a picnic-style upgrade built around caviar, lobster and other snacks. The combination keeps the event relaxed while still fitting the expectations of a high-end resort.
A temporary evening ritual
Jimbaran Cinema runs from September 13 to November 9, 2026 and is open to resort guests and outside visitors, including families with children over five. Its limited season helps keep the concept tied to a particular moment rather than turning it into another permanent hotel facility.
The appeal lies in how little infrastructure is required to change the beach after dark. Personal audio, comfortable seating and well-timed service are enough to turn Coconut Grove into a cinema while leaving the soundscape of Jimbaran Bay largely intact.
