Run of Hope Returns to Macao With a 5.6km Race and Family Walk

Run of Hope returns to Macao on November 1 with race and family-walk routes supporting cancer research and local charities.

Four Seasons Hotel Macao will bring Run of Hope back on November 1, 2026, with a 5.6-kilometre race and a 3-kilometre family walk. The annual community event raises funds for cancer research at Kiang Wu Hospital and for local charitable organisations in Macao.

Two routes for different participants

The 5.6-kilometre route gives runners a competitive option, while the 3-kilometre family walk is designed to make the event accessible to a wider range of ages and fitness levels. That combination keeps the morning focused on participation rather than limiting it to serious runners.

Four Seasons is again working with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Macao as co-organiser. The partnership helps position the event as a citywide community activity rather than a closed hotel programme.

Cancer research remains at the centre

Funds raised will support cancer research at Kiang Wu Hospital as well as selected local charities. The direct connection to local medical work gives participants a clear understanding of where the event’s fundraising is intended to make a difference.

Run of Hope has been part of the Macao calendar since 2009, giving the initiative a history long enough to build recurring participation. In 2025, nearly 400 people took part, demonstrating that the event has developed a community beyond hotel guests alone.

A student-designed symbol of hope

Students from The International School of Macao have contributed to the event through a poster-design initiative, bringing younger participants into the campaign before race day. Their involvement adds an educational element to the fundraising and makes the event visible within the school community.

That kind of participation broadens the meaning of the programme. Rather than treating charitable activity as something organised only by sponsors and donors, the event gives families and students ways to contribute through creativity, walking and running.

Wellness and giving in the same morning

Charity runs work because the activity itself is simple and social: people move together, spend time outdoors and support a shared cause. The Four Seasons format adds organisation and hospitality without changing that basic community character.

For visitors in Macao, Run of Hope also offers a different way to experience the city beyond casinos, restaurants and shopping. It connects wellness with local institutions and provides a morning in which participation matters more than exclusivity.
