A yacht’s entertainment facilities become more interesting when the same space can change its purpose between afternoon and evening. Lürssen’s 90-metre NORN combines a liftable pool floor with dancefloor illumination and an outdoor cinema, while a dynamic-positioning system supports an alternative to deploying an anchor in suitable conditions.
A pool that can host a different occasion
The builder identifies a pool floor that lifts and incorporates illumination suitable for use as a dancefloor. That turns a single deck area into a more flexible gathering space without requiring guests to move to a separate ballroom.
A pool conversion is still an engineered operation subject to crew procedures and safety checks, rather than an automatic invitation to change modes while people are swimming. The key design idea is that the owner has a choice of atmosphere within the same physical footprint.
An outdoor cinema after sunset
NORN’s official profile includes an outdoor cinema, a setting that relies on more than a screen for an enjoyable evening at sea. The position, comfortable seating and control of wind and light will affect how the space is used, even though the builder does not publish a detailed seating plan.
The vessel also has zero-speed stabilisers, which support comfort while stationary in appropriate conditions. They do not eliminate all vessel motion or replace a captain’s judgment about the weather before guests gather outdoors.
The look of a modern private vessel
Espen Øino International designed an exterior composed of flat surfaces, straight lines and precisely controlled angles. Dölker + Voges created the interior, bringing a separate design perspective to the private spaces behind that strong geometric profile.
The appearance is contemporary without making the yacht a generic exercise in minimalism. In the builder’s account, the architecture and the entertainment equipment are parts of one individual owner’s project, rather than a standard fit-out package sold to every yacht.
Positioning and the anchorage
Lürssen says the dynamic-positioning system enables electronic holding in areas where deploying an anchor could disturb the seabed. Whether it is appropriate depends on local rules, weather, water depth and the vessel’s operating limits, which always require professional assessment.
