The 115m PELORUS uses hull-side terraces and a beach-inspired interior to connect a very large yacht with the sea.
PELORUS approaches superyacht living through a series of connections to the water rather than a single oversized upper deck, allowing several guest groups to find their own space. Lürssen’s 115-metre yacht, delivered in 2003, combines Tim Heywood’s exterior with a relaxed interior by Terence Disdale and terraces built into the hull sides.
Terraces at the waterline
The design includes hull-side openings that form sheltered terraces closer to the water than the main exterior decks. These spaces give guests another way to experience a calm anchorage without occupying a large shared entertaining area.
The terraces are engineered features operated under crew procedures and appropriate conditions, not ordinary doors to leave open underway. The official builder profile establishes the arrangement without supplying private guest itineraries or recent charter claims.
An informal interior brief
Terence Disdale shaped the interiors around a relaxed beach-house atmosphere with a mixture of natural materials and carefully judged colours. This differs from treating the yacht’s size as an invitation to make every room ceremonial or formal.
The published design was for the vessel’s original owner and belongs to the documented delivery-era project. Current furnishings and personal objects may change over time, so the original description is not presented as a verified inventory for today.
A distinctive Heywood silhouette
Tim Heywood’s exterior makes the yacht recognisable through a strong bow, long sheer and sculpted decks. The different levels form a coherent profile rather than appearing as separate buildings stacked above one another.
That visual relationship also affects how guests circulate between private rooms, open-air areas and the sea-level terraces. The builder’s account supports the design authorship, while detailed current operating arrangements remain the crew’s responsibility.
A lasting design reference
PELORUS is an established 2003 vessel, not a new September 2026 launch or delivery. Revisiting the documented design shows how large-yacht architects were already building a stronger connection between guest spaces and the surrounding water.
The hero is a distinct official Lürssen photograph of PELORUS herself. It has not been repurposed from another yacht or used to suggest a newly reported commercial event.
