The first fully electric Range Rover Sport combines 550PS performance, rapid torque delivery and Bespoke commissioning with the model’s established luxury and off-road capability.
Range Rover has opened orders for the first fully electric Range Rover Sport, combining a 550PS dual-motor powertrain with a new chassis tune and the brand’s Bespoke commissioning service. The new model is intended to preserve the familiar mix of refinement, road presence and all-terrain ability while adding the quieter, more immediate character of electric propulsion.
Electric torque changes the character without changing the brief
Two 260kW motors produce 550PS and 850Nm, with Range Rover quoting zero to 60mph in as little as 4.3 seconds in Dynamic Launch Mode. Torque arrives faster than in the larger Range Rover Electric, sharpening the sense of response.
The interesting point is not simply acceleration. A luxury performance SUV has to remain calm in ordinary use, so the value of electric drive lies in combining immediate response with the quiet, low-effort progress owners expect from the brand.
The chassis has been tuned around lower mass placement
The electric architecture gives the Sport a lower centre of gravity and a stiffer body than plug-in hybrid versions. Adaptive Dynamics, electronic Active Roll Control, all-wheel steering and virtual all-wheel drive are used to manage the additional battery mass.
That matters because large electric SUVs can feel heavy even when they are fast. Range Rover’s challenge is to make the vehicle feel natural on a narrow road while preserving the isolation and stability expected during longer motorway journeys.
Carrara marble quarries became the final development test
Range Rover completed a peak-to-peak challenge through the Carrara marble quarries in Italy, where gradients reached up to 45 degrees. The route mixed polished stone, marble dust and tight hairpins to test traction and low-speed control.
The setting was theatrical, but it also suited the product. Owners may never drive through a quarry, yet the ability to manage difficult surfaces remains part of the Range Rover identity and distinguishes the car from purely road-focused electric luxury SUVs.
Bespoke commissioning pushes the model beyond standard specification
Autobiography clients can use Range Rover Bespoke to create more personal combinations of colour, material and detail. That gives the electric version access to the same type of individualisation increasingly expected across yachts, private aircraft and top-end cars.
For owners who keep several vehicles at different homes or marinas, that personalisation can matter as much as outright performance. A car becomes easier to connect with when its materials and colours reflect a broader private design language.
