Phantom Regatta is a one-off Phantom Extended commission inspired by racing yachts, Cowes Week and the waters surrounding Goodwood.
The Solent becomes a design brief
Phantom Regatta takes its inspiration from the racing yachts and summer regattas of the English South Coast, including Cowes Week. The commission brings the colour and material language of sailing into a Phantom Extended without turning the car into a literal nautical replica.
Regatta Blue sits above English White on the exterior, creating a visual division reminiscent of a yacht hull meeting the water. Fully polished disc wheels add another reference through their similarity to polished deck hardware.
A cabin under full sail
Inside, Navy Blue and Grace White leather evoke deep water and sailcloth, while turquoise accents bring the colour of clear inshore water into the cabin. Woodwork becomes especially important because the picnic tables are arranged like yacht decking.
Each table uses 16 Royal Walnut planks laid by hand and bookmatched from the centre. Rolls-Royce says the pair required around 120 hours of detailed craftsmanship.
A natural SYG crossover
The commission succeeds because it takes ideas familiar to yacht owners and interprets them through another craft discipline. Timber selection, hand finishing and material sequencing are decisions that would feel at home in a custom yacht interior.
For SYG readers, Phantom Regatta is a clear example of the shared language between Rolls-Royce and yachting. Both worlds use craftsmanship to turn performance objects into personal expressions of lifestyle.
