Sandblu Santorini has reopened above Kamari as LXR Hotels & Resorts’ first Greek property, combining island design, dining and wellness.
Santorini gains a quieter luxury base
Sandblu Santorini has reopened above Kamari’s black-sand shoreline as the first LXR Hotels & Resorts property in Greece. The 66-room, suite and villa retreat is positioned as an alternative to the island’s busiest cliffside addresses.
Architecture and interiors take cues from Cycladic forms, volcanic stone and the changing light of the Aegean. The aim is to feel connected to the island rather than operate as a generic international resort.
Dining spreads across six distinct concepts
The resort includes six food and beverage destinations ranging from modern Greek cooking to a 300-label wine cellar. Local seafood and Santorini’s volcanic-grown wines are used to keep the dining programme tied to place.
Blu, an off-property terrace restaurant designed by Rockwell Group, extends the hotel beyond its main site. That gives guests another reason to explore the area without leaving the resort ecosystem completely behind.
Aegean hotels remain relevant to yacht itineraries
Santorini is often approached by yacht even when guests spend only one or two nights ashore. A strong hotel can provide a change of pace, spa access and a private base between island passages.
Sandblu’s location above Kamari offers a different relationship with Santorini from the crowded caldera edge. For yacht owners, that can make the hotel useful as a discreet shore-side retreat during an Aegean cruise.
