A motoring gathering in Arrowtown
New Zealand’s Ayrburn Classic held its second edition in February 2026 at the Ayrburn hospitality precinct near Queenstown. Porsche’s September feature looks back at the event and the mix of cars, dining and scenery on display.
The organisers reported attendance of about 9,000 and roughly 500 vehicles entered in various judging categories. These are historical figures for the 2026 edition, not a forecast for future years.
The landscape is part of the event
Arrowtown’s mountain setting gives the gathering a different character from a city-centre car exhibition. Gardens, restaurants and nearby roads form part of the overall visitor experience.
The programme included a Tour d’Elegance charity drive around the Wakatipu Basin. A visitor’s journey and any participation need their own arrangements and compliance with local road rules.
Collectible cars among the entries
Porsche reports the presence of models including the Carrera GT and 918 Spyder, alongside cars from other manufacturers and eras. The mixture brings road cars, historic racing designs and unusual machines together in one event.
The presence of a particular model does not establish that it was for sale or available to drive. Display and ownership arrangements belong to the individual entrant.
An inland addition to a yacht itinerary
Queenstown is inland, so a yacht-based trip around New Zealand would require separate travel to Arrowtown. Its food, wine and alpine landscapes offer a contrasting experience to coastal cruising.
