Dries Vanthoor and Sheldon van der Linde won Indianapolis for BMW M Team WRT, with Turner Motorsport also taking a GTD victory.
A first for the WRT programme
BMW M Team WRT took its first overall IMSA victory with the M Hybrid V8 at the Indianapolis Battle on the Bricks. Drivers Dries Vanthoor and Sheldon van der Linde shared the winning car.
The race lasted two hours and forty minutes, making it a test of both pace and execution. The result adds a distinct North American achievement to BMW’s international endurance programme.
An important final phase
Vanthoor began from third, while van der Linde moved into the lead near the end of the race. BMW says the outcome converted earlier strong performances into a first win for this team and car combination in the series.
A single result does not determine an entire season, but it records what the squad achieved on the day. Strategy and crew execution are part of the overall account.
A second BMW class result
Turner Motorsport also won the GTD category in the #96 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher shared the car in that class.
The two victories came from different entries and categories, which should not be merged into one result. Each race class has its own participants and competitive context.
Following racing from afar
Motorsport offers collectors and performance enthusiasts a connection to engineering beyond road-car specifications. A racing drivetrain or setup cannot be applied automatically to a private vehicle or yacht.
BMW’s official event report and racing photo document the Indianapolis results. Readers considering an attendance trip should consult the circuit’s separate event calendar.
