Porsche Penske Motorsport’s #6 963 finished third at Indianapolis while its sister car suffered a first-lap collision.
A podium at the penultimate IMSA round
Porsche Penske Motorsport finished third in the GTP class at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on 20 September 2026. The #6 Porsche 963, driven by Kévin Estre and Laurin Heinrich, gave the factory team a podium at the Battle on the Bricks.
The race lasted two hours and forty minutes and followed a challenging start for Porsche’s entries. The result records a completed race rather than an indication of how the championship will end.
A difficult first corner
All three Porsche 963 entries were caught up in first-turn incidents, with the #7 works car suffering particularly serious damage. Julien Andlauer and Felipe Nasr lost more than twenty laps through repairs and were eventually classified eleventh in GTP.
The #6 emerged largely unscathed and remained able to run at the front. Those contrasting outcomes show how separate entries from one team can experience very different races.
Estre and Heinrich secure third
Strong running from Estre and Heinrich brought the #6 back onto the podium. Porsche described the result as the end of a podium drought dating back to April.

One race remained on the calendar
The Porsche release identified Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on 3 October as the next race. Such a finale brings another demanding endurance format and its own operational challenges.
