An island home shaped around its owners
Winch Design has completed Villa Nougat, a private residence on Pointe Milou in Saint Barthélemy, working with island-based architect Xavier David. The house was delivered in January 2026 for clients whose family connection with St Barths extends back three decades.
The commission developed from their purchase of a neighbouring plot to extend the setting for a family holiday home. Rather than follow a standard hotel-inspired specification, the designers worked with the owners on how the residence would be used over many visits.
Furniture made for a particular family
Winch Design created 98 bespoke pieces of furniture for the project, including a 12-seat dining table designed around the family’s entertaining habits. Individual design decisions extend through the rooms and outdoor spaces, tying the interiors to the people who occupy them.
The project also uses personalised details on objects ranging from bathrobes to gym equipment. Such choices express private ownership and craftsmanship rather than the facilities of a rental resort, and availability for public stays has not been announced.
