IYC brokers Matthew Stone and Richard Gray represented both sides in the sale of 34m Moonen MIDNIGHT SAGA, a 2023 Dutch-built yacht with 3,900nm range.
IYC has completed the sale of MIDNIGHT SAGA, the 34-metre Moonen motor yacht delivered in 2023. Matthew Stone, managing partner in California, and Richard Gray, head of sales in the United Kingdom, represented both buyer and seller in the transaction. The brokerage did not publish a final sale price, so the result should not be read as evidence of a particular value or discount from an earlier asking price.
The transaction is distinctive because it places a comparatively recent Dutch-built steel yacht with established cruising credentials into another owner's hands. Moonen's engineering approach favours a practical balance between manageable overall dimensions, guest comfort and passage-making capability. The announcement identifies the buyer and seller representation, but does not disclose the identity of the new owner or the vessel's immediate cruising itinerary.
MIDNIGHT SAGA combines exterior styling by René van der Velden with interiors developed by Studio Indigo, whose work is intended to balance long-range practicality with residential comfort. The yacht offers accommodation for up to ten guests across five cabins, giving a family or small group the option to cruise together without requiring the accommodation scale of a much larger vessel.
A full-beam owner's suite on the main deck establishes a distinct private area away from the remaining guest accommodation. Other spaces include substantial outdoor decks and an elevated gathering area, allowing passengers to move between indoor and exterior settings as conditions change. Buyers should judge those spaces by circulation and their own use patterns, rather than assuming that every attractive rendering translates into a convenient layout at sea.
IYC reports a range of approximately 3,900 nautical miles at nine knots, placing the yacht among the steel cruisers designed for extended passages rather than a sequence of short marina visits. Range is inherently linked to speed, loading, weather and reserve policy, so a published figure is a planning reference rather than a guaranteed distance on every voyage.
For a prospective owner, the more consequential questions concern machinery service history, tank capacities, stabilization systems and the ability of the crew to operate the vessel safely during long periods away from major service centres. The builder's Dutch engineering pedigree and the yacht's recent delivery can inform that assessment, but neither removes the need for a careful independent survey.
MIDNIGHT SAGA's transfer shows continued brokerage activity for modern 30-to-40-metre superyachts whose owners want transoceanic capability within a restrained footprint. In this sector, acquisition decisions involve far more than interior style: berth costs, planned crewing levels and the ability to maintain technical systems in distant cruising grounds all affect the ownership proposition.
The confirmed facts are the 2023 delivery, 34-metre size, design credits, guest capacity, quoted range and the two IYC brokers' roles in the sale. IYC has not released further transaction terms. Readers interested in comparable Dutch-built yachts should treat those details as an indication of the vessel's specification, not a template for the price or operating budget of another boat.
