Northrop & Johnson has reduced the 36.6-metre expedition yacht ANNE S PIERCE to $2.95 million following her extensive commercial-vessel conversion.

Northrop & Johnson has reduced the asking price of the 36.6-metre expedition yacht ANNE S PIERCE by $1.497 million to $2.95 million. Originally built as a North Atlantic scallop dragger, the steel vessel was extensively remanufactured between 2019 and 2021 into a long-range expedition yacht designed around robust systems, deep-water capability and remote cruising.

A commercial hull forms the foundation

ANNE S PIERCE was originally launched in 1982 at Lunenburg Shipyard in Nova Scotia for Clearwater Fish Company. The vessel later served as a research and training platform for Memorial University before entering a multi-year conversion programme at Glovertown Shipyard in Newfoundland.

The project retained the heavy North American steel hull and deep draft while replacing or rebuilding major yacht systems. That commercial foundation gives the vessel a very different engineering character from a purpose-built lightweight motor yacht and is central to the brokerage argument for long-range reliability.

Conversion focused on serviceability

Northrop & Johnson says the 2019–2021 remanufacture prioritised systems that could be serviced in remote locations. Individual induction heat pumps were selected instead of one central climate system, while major mechanical and electrical equipment was renewed or rebuilt around components intended to be supportable in North America.

A new steel pilothouse and flybridge module weighing around 20,000 pounds was also added during the conversion. Approximately 350,000 pounds of concrete was introduced as ballast to restore displacement and stability after the structural changes.

Five staterooms accommodate up to 14 guests

Guest accommodation is arranged across five staterooms for as many as 14 people, while crew are housed separately. The main deck combines a galley, dining area and lounge, with Diamond Sea Glaze windows and wood finishes giving the converted interior a deliberately practical expedition character.

Two wood-burning stoves add another unusual feature for cold-climate operation. The pilothouse includes reverse-raked windows, a navigator’s berth and all-round visibility, reinforcing the yacht’s original working-vessel heritage rather than attempting to disguise it completely.

Remote cruising defines the sales proposition

The brokerage material describes ANNE S PIERCE as a vessel intended for long-range and remote exploration, with a published range extending well beyond conventional coastal cruising. Her displacement hull, deep draft and commercial construction are therefore being marketed as strengths for buyers prioritising durability over speed.

Superyacht Guide is treating the $2.95 million figure as the current brokerage asking price rather than an independent valuation. Any buyer would still need to verify present technical condition, range assumptions, refit documentation and class or flag requirements through survey and due diligence before completing a purchase.
