Northrop & Johnson has added the 2024-built 37m Gulf Craft Majesty 120 OPTIMISM to its brokerage fleet, asking $17.9m ahead of the 2026 Fort Lauderdale boat show.

Northrop & Johnson adds OPTIMISM to its sale fleet

Northrop & Johnson has announced a new central listing for OPTIMISM, a 37-metre Gulf Craft Majesty 120 built in 2024. The yacht is being marketed at an asking price of $17.9 million through broker Carl Sputh. The company says potential buyers will be able to view her during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, scheduled for 28 October to 1 November 2026. This is a new brokerage listing rather than a report of a completed sale.

The yacht is the fourth hull of Gulf Craft's Majesty 120 series. That places her in a production family with a proven basic arrangement while allowing individual choices of finishes and equipment. A recently delivered yacht can be particularly attractive to owners seeking contemporary systems without commissioning an entirely new build, although condition, inventory and warranty status still require independent verification.

Six staterooms for twelve guests

OPTIMISM is arranged to accommodate twelve guests in six cabins. A full-beam owner's suite occupies the main deck, with five additional staterooms on the lower deck. Two of the lower cabins use convertible twin layouts, allowing the configuration to adapt to different groups of guests. Northrop & Johnson also describes separate accommodation for up to eight crew members.

An arrangement like this can help owners travelling with multiple generations or different groups of friends. Separate crew areas support service while the principal decks remain available to guests. The published sleeping capacity should not be equated automatically with an approved charter limit: commercial use is subject to flag, class, insurance and other regulations, all of which must be checked for the actual vessel.

MTU power and composite construction

The broker identifies twin MTU engines of 2,600 brake horsepower each, with a cruising speed of approximately twelve knots and a maximum of twenty knots. OPTIMISM uses advanced composite construction and was designed to RINA Commercial Class and Red Ensign Group standards, according to the brokerage announcement. These details establish the yard's intended technical and operating profile.

Engine ratings alone do not determine endurance or fuel economy. The attainable speed depends on the vessel's loading, sea state, maintenance and hull condition. Buyers should review engine data, maintenance records and any class documents, then commission an appropriate sea trial. Statements about a yacht being designed to standards should also be distinguished from confirmation of its current certification.

The sundeck is a major entertainment space

A Jacuzzi, bar and barbecue make the sundeck a central focus of OPTIMISM's outdoor layout. A retractable hardtop is intended to provide flexibility between open sunlight and shade. Bridge-deck lounge seating for twelve, aft-deck dining and a private foredeck seating area add alternatives for different times of day and changing weather conditions.

Multiple outdoor zones can allow a group to spread out without compromising shared occasions. In practical use, owners should consider the amount of protection from wind and spray, guest circulation and the crew's ability to serve and maintain each area. All equipment on an exposed deck, including pools and movable shade structures, requires regular inspection and safe operating procedures.

Beach club and tender storage aft

Northrop & Johnson describes a large beach club with its own bar, linked to an electrohydraulic swim platform and tender garage. The advertised watersports inventory includes a four-metre Williams Diesel Jet tender, two Sea-Doo Spark watercraft and two F9 Seabobs. This equipment supports shore transfers and active days at anchor without requiring an outside operator for every excursion.

Tender handling is still a technical task, particularly where swell or other marine traffic affects a platform. Owners should check the garage dimensions, launch arrangements, lifting equipment and present condition of the toys. A brokerage inventory is subject to change; the final purchase agreement should specify what is included, together with servicing records and any relevant warranties.

Wood, marble and onyx interiors

The main saloon uses a contemporary palette of Tabu Sycamore Friese, Amara wood, marble and onyx. Large windows and an open-plan layout are designed to connect interior living spaces with the water. An upper-deck skylounge with panoramic glazing and a wet bar gives guests a separate enclosed place to gather, especially when weather limits deck activities.

Such materials create a sophisticated setting but also bring particular care requirements. Finishes may need specialist cleaning or protection from sunlight and damp, while furniture arrangements can affect how comfortably a full party uses the yacht. During inspection, buyers should evaluate not only visual appearance but also the condition of joinery, stone, lighting, ventilation and the access routes used by crew.

Fort Lauderdale offers a viewing opportunity

Northrop & Johnson plans to make OPTIMISM available for viewings at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The show runs from 28 October to 1 November and provides a concentrated opportunity for brokers and buyers to compare motor yachts in a similar size bracket. An appointment arranged through Carl Sputh will allow a more detailed inspection than viewing public photographs alone.

Attending a show does not guarantee unrestricted access to every private space on a yacht or that the vessel will remain available through the final day. Visitors should confirm appointments and ask for the current specification before travelling. Serious buyers may want to arrange follow-up technical inspections outside the busy public-show period, when systems can be operated and measured more thoroughly.

A new listing, not a transaction

The key market development is the arrival of a comparatively recent 37-metre Majesty 120 at a public asking price of $17.9 million. OPTIMISM offers a six-cabin layout, substantial entertaining areas and a defined watersports inventory. Her introduction gives Northrop & Johnson another major motor yacht to present in the run-up to Fort Lauderdale, where competing brokerage offerings can attract attention from international buyers.

Neither the marketing announcement nor the asking price demonstrates that a buyer has committed to the yacht. The next steps for an interested purchaser include documentation review, a qualified survey, machinery assessment and confirmation of tax and title status. Her 2024 build date may shorten the time since delivery, but it does not replace those procedures or establish final value.
