The historic 47m Perini Navi ketch ANDROMEDA LA DEA has emerged from a comprehensive 2026 rebuild involving renewed steel decks, onboard systems and Liaigre interiors.

A classic Perini Navi returns after a transformative rebuild

The 47-metre sailing yacht ANDROMEDA LA DEA has returned to the market following an unusually comprehensive rebuilding programme that has preserved her celebrated Perini Navi silhouette while replacing much of the technical installation. New interviews published on 15 October with the owner and captain describe how an initially modest recommissioning evolved into a project of almost complete renewal.

The ketch was originally delivered by Perini Navi in 1990 and is associated with early owner Tom Perkins, a key figure in the development of the yard’s modern sailing-yacht reputation. Her unusually long counter stern and classic blue-and-silver appearance made the design recognisable decades before the present rebuild.

Edmiston is marketing the yacht at EUR 24.95 million, excluding VAT where applicable, with recommissioning recorded in January 2026. The advertised asking price is not an indication of what a sale might ultimately realise.

Renewing the hull, deck and critical infrastructure

According to the recent owner and captain account, marginal steel hull plating was replaced and more than seventy percent of the steel deck was renewed during the project. Entirely new teak has been laid, while the aluminium superstructure and its interface with the steel hull were judged suitable for retention.

The captain described extensive work to electrical equipment, piping and machinery, including the removal and replacement of significant quantities of wiring. This scale goes well beyond a cosmetic refit, because systems are replaced across many technical spaces that would normally be left intact during an interior refresh.

Edmiston states that the twin Caterpillar main engines have been rebuilt and zero-houred at the factory, while the Northern Lights generators have also been extensively renewed. These statements should be checked against the actual service records and builder certification, as with any major engineering project.

Sailing equipment for a new operating chapter

The rebuilt yacht retains her distinctive sailing profile, but the rig and associated deck equipment have also received attention. The broker’s published inventory lists serviced rod rigging through 2030, hydraulic carbon in-boom furling and a new suite of North 3Di sails.

A fresh sail wardrobe and serviced rig can create a more predictable basis for cruising, although the maintenance burden of a complex large sailing yacht remains substantial. Prospective owners need a full inspection of spars, hydraulics, running rigging and systems used to handle heavy sails under load.

Edmiston indicates a range of approximately 5,000 nautical miles at an economical speed near eleven knots, with a maximum motoring speed of thirteen knots. These are broker-supplied specifications and should be evaluated alongside fuel capacity and the vessel’s actual sailing and motoring performance.

A contemporary interior within the original character

The interior has been reconsidered by Guillaume Rolland of Christian Liaigre, with the brief focused on preserving a sense of the yacht’s identity while providing the amenity and finish expected of modern luxury travel. A custom fireplace, upgraded audiovisual systems and new guest facilities feature in the published description.

ANDROMEDA LA DEA is arranged for twelve guests across six cabins and carries a crew complement of eight in the current sales specification. The layout retains a rare on-deck guest accommodation option and a substantial deck arrangement for entertaining.

Outside, refreshed furniture and new leisure features include a Jacuzzi, while the renewed teak routes and covered areas are intended to support longer periods aboard. Care should be taken to distinguish what has been renewed from what has simply been inspected and retained.

A pedigree yacht with renewed capabilities

Perini Navi records the yacht as the first of its fleet to complete a circumnavigation, with three circumnavigations across successive ownerships. Her history includes passages through a wide range of oceans and climates, establishing a genuine track record as a long-distance sailing vessel.

The extensive rebuild has altered the yacht’s technical condition and renewed much of the living environment, but her age and history still matter for survey purposes. An acquisition should include detailed review of hull surveys, rigging records, certification and the scope of warranties associated with replaced machinery.

ANDROMEDA LA DEA demonstrates how a distinctive yacht can be retained rather than replaced when the owner values its design and seagoing heritage. The latest account is an in-depth report on the transformation and its commercial offering, not the announcement of a new hull launched in 2026.
