The 50m Christensen SILVER LINING is offered for sale at $27.95m after her 2026 ABS ten-year special survey and a $1.3m refurbishment programme.

Christensen SILVER LINING joins brokerage at $27.95m

Northrop & Johnson has added the 50-metre Christensen motor yacht SILVER LINING to its brokerage fleet, with an asking price of $27.95 million. The announcement of 19 October names brokers Wes Sanford, Sean Doyle and Mike Finnegan and says the yacht will be available for viewings at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, from 28 October to 1 November. The listing is a market offering, not a confirmed sale.

SILVER LINING was launched in 2016 and presented as a 2017 model. Built in the United States with composite construction, she is distinctive for her substantial volume and the breadth of the accommodation within a fifty-metre hull. Buyers considering this size bracket should examine the relationship between usable spaces, crewing requirements and operating cost rather than comparing length alone.

A 570-gross-tonne interior sets her apart

Northrop & Johnson lists SILVER LINING at 570 gross tonnes, a figure it describes as Christensen's largest delivery by volume. That is fourteen percent greater than the yard's typical 499-GT benchmark, according to the broker. The extra enclosed volume supports a full-beam skylounge, generous accommodation, separate service zones and circulation arrangements rarely found on smaller-volume layouts.

Gross tonnage is a measurement of enclosed volume, not displacement weight. It can influence regulation and survey requirements, though the specific obligations depend on classification, flag, operating area and use. Owners should verify official tonnage certificates alongside the approved plans. The practical test of volume is whether it gives guests more room without compromising safe access and maintenance.

Six cabins accommodate private and charter parties

The yacht has six staterooms, including a full-beam owner's suite on the main deck and a full-beam VIP. The broker describes a private guest capacity of sixteen, while the charter configuration is for twelve. Accommodation is also provided for eleven crew. These different figures are important because private sleeping arrangements and approved commercial guest numbers should not be conflated.

A yacht that can host a large private party needs careful planning for cabin allocation, dining and hospitality. Crew service corridors and storage can be just as important as the appearance of the guest rooms. Buyers considering charter operations should confirm the approved number of guests, applicable safety requirements and any changes needed before placing a vessel into a commercial programme.

Elevator and helideck extend flexibility

Among SILVER LINING's most notable features are an elevator serving every deck and a sundeck arranged for touch-and-go helicopter operations. The elevator can improve movement between levels, while the landing-area arrangement reflects the needs of owners who value rapid connections between shore and yacht. The layout also includes expansive exterior lounges and protected dining areas.

A helicopter-capable deck does not guarantee that every aircraft or operation is permitted. Relevant structural limits, operating procedures, certifications and local airspace rules must be verified. Similarly, an elevator requires a functional survey and maintenance records. Prospective owners should distinguish brochure descriptions from evidence that each system operates within its approved limits today.

A ten-year ABS survey forms part of the appeal

The yacht underwent a three-month haul-out at Lauderdale Marine Center during 2026, when an approximately $1.3 million programme covered the ten-year American Bureau of Shipping Special Survey and a substantial refit. Northrop & Johnson highlights detailed structural and mechanical checks as an important part of the yacht's present market positioning.

A completed classification survey is valuable evidence of work performed within the class framework, but it does not replace an independent buyer's survey or address every issue that could arise later. Buyers should obtain the relevant ABS reports, invoices and any outstanding recommendations. Clear documentation helps establish what was actually tested or repaired during the yard period.

Machinery work included stabilisers and running gear

The reported technical programme included rebuilding stabilisers, overhauling running gear and renewing all through-hull valves. Engine mounts and shaft couplings were replaced, engines were realigned and tanks inspected. Bottom coatings and engine-room systems also received attention. These are substantial maintenance items on a large motor yacht, reflecting investment in systems beyond guest-facing appearance.

Evidence of replacement should include commissioning records and appropriate test results, not simply a list of completed jobs. Shaft alignment and stabiliser performance, for example, need to be checked under operating conditions. A qualified surveyor can review the maintenance evidence and help assess whether the work resolves earlier concerns or leaves further investment to be planned.

Kimberly Graham interiors and social spaces

The yacht's interior design is credited to Kimberly Graham, with high-gloss Black Walnut, marble and a formal main-saloon dining area for twelve. The full-beam skylounge incorporates an onyx-topped bar, creating a second major enclosed gathering space. Outdoors, there is bridge-deck dining, extensive sundeck seating and a Jacuzzi intended for eight people.

The visual style is an important part of the yacht's identity, though high-gloss surfaces and stone finishes require ongoing care. Owners intending to entertain large groups should also examine storage, traffic between galley and dining areas, and the relationship between exterior leisure spaces and crew working zones. A careful viewing reveals whether the arrangement will suit their day-to-day programme.

Long-range performance complements the volume

Twin commercial-rated MTU engines are listed with a maximum speed of approximately sixteen knots and a quoted range of 4,000 nautical miles at nine knots. Those figures suggest a vessel built for measured long-distance cruising rather than rapid transfers at maximum speed. The advertised range, however, depends on loading, weather, maintenance, generator demand and the fuel reserves required for a passage.

For interested buyers, the Fort Lauderdale show offers an initial opportunity to review SILVER LINING's accommodations and the evidence of recent work. The final purchase decision should rely on class records, technical surveys, a sea trial and legal due diligence. The buyer should also confirm any outstanding technical recommendations and the detailed inventory included with the yacht. The $27.95 million asking price establishes the seller's public position but says nothing about a completed transaction or eventual sale price.
