Alcor Acquires Majority of Superyacht Lighting Specialist Promotech

Alcor has bought a majority stake in Viareggio lighting company Promotech, whose superyacht projects include the 112m RENAISSANCE and 65m REGINA D'ITALIA.

A Viareggio specialist becomes part of a larger industrial group

Alcor has taken a majority interest in Promotech Italia, a company whose work sits between yacht lighting design, electrical engineering and the demanding process of installing bespoke interiors. The Viareggio business serves high-end yachting as well as luxury retail and hospitality, where architectural lighting must support both the visual design and the practical use of a space.

Promotech's founders, Claudio Giampaoli and Federica Luppichini, are staying in charge of day-to-day operations and retaining a material ownership interest. That continuity is important in a field where successful installation often depends on close working relationships with interior designers, specialist suppliers and the yard's electrical contractors.

Financial figures explain why the acquisition attracted investment

Promotech reported net revenues of approximately €3.1 million in 2025, gross operating profit of about €850,000 and a net cash position exceeding €900,000. Those figures describe a comparatively compact specialist business rather than a mass-market lighting manufacturer, but they also suggest that its technical niche has generated a profitable operation.

Alcor is seeking to build a wider group of complementary companies across technical lighting and design. The purchase may give Promotech access to investment, management resources and introductions to new markets without necessarily changing the way it handles each yacht project.

Lighting is a systems issue as well as a decorative one

Promotech's work has been connected with major yachts including the 112-metre RENAISSANCE and the 65-metre REGINA D'ITALIA. Lighting a vessel of that scale involves more than installing visible fittings. Crews and guests need different settings for daytime movement, evening entertaining, cleaning, emergency circulation and technical tasks.

Marine installations must also account for vibration, moisture, maintenance access and the electrical controls that connect rooms into larger scenes. Bespoke solutions can demand specialist brackets, cables, fixtures and coordinated testing before interior panels are finally closed.

A patented pool-lighting product illustrates the niche

The company has described co-patented Neptune pool-lighting technology among its specialist developments. Pools present unusual electrical and architectural challenges because water, chemical treatment, reflections and service access all influence the installation. A product developed for that setting cannot simply be substituted for an ordinary interior fixture.

The business also works on tailored component solutions, showing how a custom superyacht supply chain differs from cataloguing finished decorative products. The most valuable supplier may be one that can interpret a designer's intent and solve practical integration issues with the builder.

The investment does not signal a yacht order

Alcor founder Eraldo Cavalli has linked the transaction to building a broader Italian platform of industrial and design expertise. Giampaoli and Luppichini remain central to the plan, making the continuity of engineering knowledge a key element of the deal.

No new superyacht contract was announced as part of the ownership change. The development is principally about the financial and organisational capacity of an existing supplier serving technically demanding yachts, rather than the delivery or specification of a new vessel.
