American Express Travel is introducing its Cruise & Yacht Collection on 22 October 2026, bringing together 20 brands including Orient Express, Aman at Sea and Ritz-Carlton.

American Express broadens its travel collection at sea

American Express Travel has announced a refreshed name for its longstanding cruise programme, introducing the American Express Cruise & Yacht Collection on October 22, 2026. The change was announced on October 20 and reflects the programme's expansion beyond traditional cruise brands into luxury yacht and superyacht-style voyages.

The new presentation is a distribution and cardholder-benefits initiative rather than the launch of a new vessel or a charter brokerage for privately owned superyachts. American Express says the participating portfolio now comprises twenty cruise lines and yacht brands, with the intention of making its range of higher-end maritime holidays clearer to eligible travellers.

Yacht brands join established cruise operators

The growing yacht-focused portfolio includes The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, which joined in 2024 and now operates three vessels, and Orient Express Sailing Yachts, which became a participating brand in January 2026. Aman at Sea joined in June 2026 ahead of the expected spring 2027 debut of its first yacht, Amangati.

Virgin Voyages and Explora Journeys are also cited among newer partners. Their presence broadens the range of accommodation and service concepts available through the platform, but buyers should compare the actual vessel, route and fare because a luxury cruise booking is not the same as exclusive hire of an entire private superyacht.

What eligible cardholders receive

American Express has retained the core benefits attached to its earlier Cruise Privileges arrangement. On qualifying sailings of five nights or more, eligible Platinum and Centurion cardholders can receive onboard credit of approximately US$100 to US$300 per stateroom or suite and a participating-brand amenity.

Eligible bookings may also earn double Membership Rewards points, together with selected offers and travel-planning support. The particular benefits depend on card type, residence, itinerary and the operator involved, so travellers should review the offer terms before treating a published figure as a guaranteed saving.

Aman and Orient Express underline the positioning

The inclusion of Orient Express Sailing Yachts and Aman at Sea signals the programme's interest in intimate, design-led hospitality at sea. Orient Express Corinthian is a substantially sized sailing yacht with an accommodation model different from that of a private charter yacht, while Amangati is planned to debut in 2027 rather than being a yacht already in commercial service in October 2026.

Travellers should distinguish launch dates, delivery dates and booking windows. A brand joining a travel platform does not change a ship's operating status or establish that every itinerary is immediately available for booking through a particular card programme.

Luxury cruise and private charter remain different products

While the updated name explicitly includes yachts, the collection's benefits concern qualifying travel reservations on participating brands. A guest may purchase accommodation aboard an operator's vessel, but does not thereby control its destination, crew arrangements or guest manifest in the way a full-yacht charterer generally would.

For travellers weighing the two models, the relevant questions include the degree of privacy, itinerary flexibility, deck-space access, onboard inclusions and the type of service expected. The growth of branded yachts has added choices, not eliminated these differences.

Bookings enter a new online interface

The refreshed presentation is scheduled to go live online on October 22, one day after the date of this report. The announcement describes continuity for existing programme benefits and participation rather than an overnight replacement of each operator's onboard offering.

Clients considering a voyage should check the latest brand list and the full terms through American Express Travel, because benefits can change and not every voyage within a participating brand is necessarily eligible. Those already holding reservations should confirm with their travel provider whether any amended conditions affect their booking.

A widening market for high-end sea travel

The announcement follows growing crossover between traditional luxury hotel brands and commercial yacht travel. For companies operating in the wider superyacht economy, the change provides a useful example of how established travel distribution firms are grouping yacht-style experiences with premium cruises.

The October 20 announcement was reported by Cruise Industry News and Travel Weekly. The accompanying yacht photograph comes from Orient Express Sailing Yachts' own media resources, illustrating a participating brand rather than an American Express-operated vessel.
