The Baltic 87 sailing yacht SHAYA will go to online auction in November, with an advertised €200,000 opening bid and advance inspections in Spain.
The Baltic sailing yacht SHAYA is being offered through YachtBid, in cooperation with Ray White Marine, with online bidding planned for November 2026. The official auction page lists a starting bid of EUR 200,000, with bidding scheduled to open on 17 November and close on 24 November.
The yacht has an advertised overall length of 26.2 metres on the organiser’s listing, while some market databases have used a slightly different figure. Using the primary listing measurement helps avoid conflating nominal model length, overall length and figures published by secondary aggregators.
YachtBid describes the vessel as a Baltic 87 performance cruiser built in 1996 by Finnish yard Baltic Yachts to designs associated with Judel/Vrolijk. A buyer should examine the yacht’s full documentation and construction record to understand the exact configuration delivered.
SHAYA uses Kevlar-composite construction and a hydraulic lifting keel intended to provide access to shallower cruising grounds. The design also incorporates a transformable open-air pilothouse and a hydraulic garage for the tender, equipment uncommon in many sailing yachts of a similar generation.
The operator’s information lists a beam of 6.2 metres and a nominal maximum draft of 2.8 metres, but the real draft range with the keel raised and lowered should be confirmed from the technical papers. A changeable underwater profile also creates maintenance considerations for the keel mechanism and related hydraulics.
A Southern Spars carbon-fibre mast and hydraulic sail-handling equipment are reported in market descriptions of the yacht. The appropriate inspection needs to consider rig history, standing rigging, sails, hydraulics and deck structures as one connected sailing system.
The advertised interior provides space for twelve guests in five ensuite staterooms, with separate crew accommodation. The yacht’s timber finish and traditional saloon arrangement reflect its original long-range cruising purpose, though buyers should verify the actual cabin configuration during inspection.
The seller points to a EUR 1.4 million refit completed in 2017 and further rig work carried out in 2023. These figures are useful context, but they do not amount to a guarantee that no subsequent repairs or replacements will be required.
Twin MTU OM366 diesel engines are shown on the listing, with an indicated cruising speed of eight knots and a maximum speed of eleven knots under power. These values should be treated as advertised specifications until checked against recent performance and engine survey information.
The two advertised viewing sessions are Friday 23 October and Saturday 21 November, each between 11:00 and 14:00, at Porto da Illa de Arousa in Pontevedra, Spain. Potential bidders should check availability and register for a viewing in advance rather than assuming unrestricted access to the vessel.
The organiser identifies a EUR 750,000 asking-price reference in addition to the EUR 200,000 starting bid, which should not be mistaken for a final sale estimate or agreed consideration. Buyers must examine bidding increments, fees, deposit arrangements, taxes and any reserve or additional auction conditions.
The combination of a specialist Baltic design and a timed online sale makes this a notable opportunity in the twenty-four-to-thirty-metre sailing sector. An auction imposes deadlines, so technical due diligence and a clear understanding of the contract need to happen before a bid becomes binding.
