Baltic Yachts has delivered the 37.08-metre all-carbon sailing yacht ALICE, a long-range family cruiser designed by Malcolm McKeon with interiors by Adam Lay.
Baltic Yachts has delivered the 37.08-metre Baltic 121 ALICE from its Jakobstad yard in Finland. The all-carbon performance cruiser was developed for extensive family cruising, combining Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design’s naval architecture with an Adam Lay Studio interior, a telescopic keel and systems intended to support safe, reliable long-distance sailing.
ALICE uses an all-carbon structure to reduce weight while maintaining the stiffness required for a large performance sailing yacht. Baltic gives the yacht a light displacement of 109 tonnes, with 35 tonnes of ballast and a generous sail plan intended to provide responsive sailing across a wide range of conditions.
The construction approach reflects Baltic Yachts’ long-standing emphasis on lightweight composite engineering. Lower structural weight can be redistributed into ballast, systems or owner equipment, but the final benefit depends on how the entire yacht is engineered rather than carbon construction alone.
The yacht’s keel can move between a draft of 4.15 metres and 6.4 metres. The deeper configuration increases righting moment and sailing performance offshore, while the shallower setting provides greater flexibility when approaching ports and cruising grounds that would be inaccessible at full draft.
That combination is useful for a yacht intended to cover long distances and visit varied destinations. Owners do not have to choose permanently between deep-draft performance and more practical harbour access, although the telescopic system adds engineering complexity that must be managed and maintained over the yacht’s life.
A contemporary deckhouse uses extensive glazing to provide broad views and natural light, while the interior follows Adam Lay Studio’s restrained, nature-inspired approach. Brushed walnut, textured veneers and tactile fabrics are used to create a calm environment intended to remain practical during long family cruising periods.
The emphasis on durable materials is important on a yacht designed for regular use rather than occasional showpiece operation. Interior surfaces, storage and circulation must work when the yacht is moving offshore as well as when guests are entertaining at anchor or alongside.
Following completion in Finland, ALICE departed to begin the cruising programme for which she was designed. Baltic describes the yacht as a combination of performance, comfort and reliability rather than a pure racing platform, with the owner closely involved throughout design and construction.
Superyacht Guide is reporting the delivery as a completed-yacht milestone rather than a new concept or order. Future coverage should focus on her operating programme, racing appearances or substantial technical developments rather than repeating the construction milestones already completed at the Jakobstad yard.
