The 35.96-metre Delta Marine expedition yacht PENELOPE is currently offered for sale at $7.95 million, with Northrop & Johnson listing the 1990-built yacht after an extensive 2024 refit. Originally delivered as PRINCESS GLORIA and later known as STAMPEDE, the yacht combines a commercial-derived full-displacement platform with a long-range cruising and sportfishing configuration.

A refit layered onto an earlier transformation

The brokerage listing records major refit work in 2006–2008 and another extensive programme in 2024. Delta Marine's own project history explains that the earlier yard period added a lengthened stern, fishing cockpit, redesigned interior, new teak and extensive systems work, turning the original 105-foot yacht into a substantially different long-range platform.

The current listing describes the yacht as PENELOPE, while some brokerage databases and legacy records continue to reference STAMPEDE. Superyacht Guide is using the current listing name while retaining the builder's earlier names to make the identity of the hull clear.

Six thousand nautical miles at economical speed

Northrop & Johnson states a range of 6,000 nautical miles, with a cruising speed of 10 knots and a top speed of 12 knots. Twin Caterpillar 3412 TA diesels provide the main propulsion, while the full-displacement GRP hull reflects the yacht's original emphasis on offshore endurance rather than high-speed operation.

The long-range specification is complemented by substantial fuel capacity and equipment intended for extended cruising. As with any older yacht, a buyer would still need an independent survey and machinery review to establish the present condition of systems rather than relying on historical build specifications alone.

Fishing cockpit gives the yacht a second role

A 12-foot hull extension created the fishing cockpit that distinguishes the yacht's current profile. The arrangement was designed to support sportfishing as well as tender operations and family cruising, broadening the use of the aft end beyond a conventional swim platform.

Delta Marine records the refit as one of the yard's more extensive transformations and notes that the project received major refit recognition after completion. The 2024 programme brings the yacht back to market with more recent work layered onto that earlier structural conversion.

Current market position

The asking price shown by Northrop & Johnson is $7.95 million. The listing records four guest staterooms for eight guests, accommodation for seven crew and a beam of 8.53 metres, giving the yacht the volume expected of a purpose-built expedition-style platform in this size range.

PENELOPE therefore sits in a different part of the brokerage market from newer composite and aluminium yachts of similar length. Its proposition is centred on refit history, range, fishing capability and an established Delta platform rather than recent build date.
