Dörries Yachts has secured a lease at Volkswerft Stralsund, adding major industrial capacity for superyacht new-build, refit and conversion projects.
Dörries Yachts has agreed a lease for new construction facilities at the Maritime Industry and Business Park Volkswerft Stralsund in northern Germany. The move gives the superyacht builder access to a 34-hectare maritime site with extensive halls, workshops and direct water access.
The Stralsund location is intended to support new-build, conversion and refit projects alongside Dörries Yachts’ existing operations. The company says the site provides the infrastructure needed for increasingly ambitious yachts without relying on temporary capacity elsewhere.
The former shipyard complex offers around 97,000 square metres of hall space, approximately 32,000 square metres of offices and about 24,000 square metres of workshop space. Road, rail and water connections give the site multiple routes for moving equipment, materials and large yacht sections.
Heavy-lift capability is particularly important for steel and aluminium superyacht work because hull blocks, machinery and completed structures often exceed what conventional yacht-building sites can move easily. Stralsund therefore gives Dörries a broader industrial envelope for complex projects.
Germany remains one of the strongest markets for large custom yacht engineering, especially at the upper end of the size range. Expanding into Stralsund allows Dörries to combine that engineering base with a location designed originally for substantial commercial shipbuilding activity.
The next measure will be the first projects assigned to the new site and how quickly the facility is integrated into Dörries’ production system. The lease nevertheless gives the company a significant capacity platform for future superyacht construction and lifecycle work.
