GX Superyachts has launched the 42.1-metre Merinos, the first GX42 RPH, following initial sea trials in Türkiye ahead of her Monaco Yacht Show debut.
GX Superyachts has launched Merinos, the first 42.1-metre GX42 RPH, in Tuzla, Türkiye. The yacht has also completed an initial sea trial as preparations continue for her world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
The launch moves GX Superyachts from a new-brand programme into operation with its first full-scale superyacht afloat. The first GX42 has been under construction at SES Yachts, the Turkish build partner selected for the aluminium programme.
GX introduced the new superyacht brand at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2024 with the first GX42 already in build. Official construction updates subsequently documented the hull turn, superstructure joining, outfitting programme and factory testing of the hybrid propulsion system ahead of the 2026 launch.
Merinos measures 42.1 metres overall with an 8.5-metre beam and 1.9-metre draught. GX Superyachts gives the Raised Pilot House version a volume of 353 GT, a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
The platform combines hybrid propulsion, battery capacity and integrated solar generation to reduce generator use and support quieter operation on board. Up to 27kW of solar panels are integrated into the RPH hardtop, while GX describes operating modes that include zero-emission navigation and zero-emission hotel load at anchor.
Marco Casali of Too Design is responsible for the exterior and interior design, while NAMES by Francesco Rogantin developed the naval architecture. The RPH arrangement combines a low exterior profile with substantial internal volume, a large upper deck and an aft beach-club area close to the water.
The main-deck owner's suite includes access to a private foredeck terrace, while the lower deck provides a full-beam VIP suite and three additional guest cabins. GX has described the interior as a family-focused environment using walnut, white leather, lacquered surfaces, stone and softly curved architectural details for longer periods on board.
The Monaco Yacht Show runs at Port Hercule from 23 to 26 September 2026, where GX Superyachts is confirmed among the exhibiting shipyards. The show's official 2026 fleet information identifies Merinos at 42.05 metres among the yachts delivering this year.
For GX Superyachts, the Monaco appearance will bring the project back to the event where the brand was introduced two years earlier. The public debut will also provide the first opportunity to assess the GX42's hybrid, solar and family-cruising concept as a completed yacht rather than a construction project or rendering.
