H2 Yacht Design has described how the 87.7-metre Turquoise-built ANGELIQUE integrates a panoramic gym and adjoining spa spaces into the yacht's overall layout.
In a design statement published on 14 October, H2 Yacht Design argues that wellbeing should be planned throughout a superyacht rather than confined to a room labelled as a spa. The practice describes a wider approach including daylight, visual connection with the water, outdoor circulation and spaces in which guests can choose either company or privacy according to their preferences.
That distinction matters during the earliest design stages, when owners and their representatives are deciding how much volume to allocate to cabins, entertainment, service circulation and leisure areas. A treatment room can be added to a specification relatively easily on paper, but genuine daily use depends on access, acoustics, temperature control and proximity to other onboard activities.
The studio points to the 87.7-metre ANGELIQUE, built by Turquoise Yachts, as an example of integrated wellness planning. H2 says the yacht includes a panoramic gym linked with a dedicated bridge-deck suite containing a sauna, hammam and beauty treatment room. Bringing those functions together is intended to make training and recovery feel connected, rather than like separate journeys around the vessel.
Panoramic views form part of the intended experience, but glazing alone does not make a satisfactory wellness space. Designers also need to account for privacy, thermal performance, sea movement, ventilation and the practicalities of keeping equipment stable when the vessel is operating. H2's published account explains the design intent; it is not an independent technical assessment of ANGELIQUE's systems.
Founder and creative director Jonny Horsfield places emphasis on how each owner actually wishes to spend time aboard. According to the studio, that can include family dining, swimming, places to sit outdoors and quiet corners for reflection as much as formal fitness rooms. The implication is that different yachts may have quite different wellness arrangements despite being similar in size or price.
On larger new-build projects, potential options can extend to ocean-facing treatment rooms, yoga or meditation areas, cold plunges, thermal experiences and direct routes towards a beach club. Those are design possibilities identified by the practice, not a list of features confirmed aboard ANGELIQUE. A disciplined brief would separate must-have functions from attractive but rarely used additions.
For a vessel above 24 metres, incorporating steam, hot and cold water, sound insulation, specialist flooring and service access affects more than interior styling. Planning these systems early can reduce later conflicts with technical spaces, evacuation routes and weight distribution. Refits face additional constraints because existing compartments and structural boundaries determine what can be accommodated without disproportionate intervention.
H2's announcement frames wellness as a personalised component of the yacht rather than a standard package. That is a useful distinction for owners commissioning a new build or major refurbishment: measurable daily benefits depend on how frequently the spaces are used and how comfortably crew can maintain them. The source is H2 Yacht Design's own account of its approach.
