Heesen Lists 50m Project Sophia with July 2026 Delivery Date

Heesen's official fleet record now lists 15 July 2026 as the delivery date for YN 21150, Project Sophia, the 50-metre all-aluminium semi-displacement yacht launched at Oss in March. The delivery date fills an important step in the project's public timeline, distinct from the earlier launch announcement.

Sophia is the fourth yacht in Heesen's 50-metre fast-cruising class. The published design places her below 500 GT while aiming for a maximum speed of 23 knots, combining a compact regulatory volume with the high performance expected of the aluminium range.

From March launch to the fleet record

The shipyard announced the launch on 16 March and identified a programme of commissioning and North Sea trials before the handover. Its current official fleet listing gives 15 July 2026 as delivery, rather than leaving the vessel under a proposed delivery window.

The date should be described as the builder's recorded delivery, not as a new event at Monaco in late September. There is no basis in this source to imply a change of ownership or a later launch.

Engineering and hull form

Sophia uses an optimised hard-chine aluminium hull for fast cruising, with a reduced transom depth and shallow shaft angle intended to balance performance and comfort. Heesen places the series in the IMO Tier III compliant segment below 500 GT.

The 23-knot figure is the shipyard's published capability for the class. Performance and consumption for an individual itinerary still depend on conditions, loading and operating profile.

Guest and tender arrangement

The builder lists twelve guests in five suites. An elevated aft-deck arrangement allows greater headroom below, creating space for a multifunctional tender garage and beach club rather than a conventional low-height garage.

That use of space is relevant to owners seeking a fast yacht without entering a larger volume class. Its attractiveness depends on the mix of guest use, crew operation and the tender selected for the installation.

Sophia adds another delivered yacht to the yard's 50-metre aluminium family. The company identifies exterior design by Omega Architects and interior design by Cristiano Gatto Design.
