Moran Yacht & Ship will oversee construction of the 49.9m Mangusta Oceano 50 Project NEXUS following the sale of hull seven, with delivery targeted for 2028.
Moran Yacht & Ship has confirmed its involvement in the sale and construction management of Project NEXUS, the seventh hull in the Mangusta Oceano 50 series. The yacht measures just under 50 metres and is scheduled for delivery in 2028, extending the working relationship between the US-based brokerage and management company and the Italian builder.
Construction management is a substantial role during a custom yacht project. The buyer's team must monitor specification decisions, progress, cost and testing across many systems that are not visible in early renderings. An announced sale is therefore the beginning of a process lasting several years, not an immediate delivery.
Project NEXUS is described as 49.9 metres overall with a steel hull and approximately 499 gross tonnes of enclosed volume. Published particulars include a beam of 9.12 metres and draft of 2.65 metres, with a stated top speed around sixteen knots.
Gross tonnage is a measure of enclosed volume rather than the yacht's physical mass. At this scale it can be useful for comparing the internal arrangement with other vessels of similar length, though certification and operational requirements are determined by the vessel's actual approved specification.
Alberto Mancini is credited with interior and exterior design. The intended guest arrangement includes a main-deck owner's suite with an automated balcony and five more guest cabins on the lower deck, accommodating a party of up to twelve people.
Alongside the guest areas, accommodation for approximately eleven crew is planned. A yacht carrying this many people must integrate galley service, stores, laundry, machinery access and crew movement effectively if the public areas are to function comfortably during extended cruising.
The general arrangement places emphasis on an expansive aft beach-club area and several exterior social spaces. Opening terraces and waterside access have become important points of comparison among yachts near 50 metres, but their usefulness depends on safe handling, protected storage and appropriate engineering for moving structures.
An owner can personalise materials and furniture, yet many choices interact with weight, fire safety, electrical installations and construction access. Resolving them early can reduce the risk of costly changes after structural and equipment work has progressed.
Project NEXUS is a reported sale and yacht under construction, not a finished vessel. Moran's ongoing management responsibilities will include coordinating the build and eventual handover, while the builder remains responsible for the manufacturing work and approved technical systems.
Schedule milestones, sea trials, final measurements and any late owner changes should be assessed as the project proceeds. The news demonstrates continuing demand for large displacement yachts just below 50 metres, with the operational results still to come.
