Zeelander 8 Brings 24m-plus Dutch Yacht to Monaco Yacht Show
Zeelander Yachts is showing its 79ft Zeelander 8 at Monaco Yacht Show, putting the Dutch builder’s largest model into the 24m-plus superyacht marketplace.
The Offshore Racing Congress has announced a 2027 International Med Circuit for Class 0, linking Sorrento, Scarlino and Palma with a new series trophy.
Owners and crews racing at the leading end of the ORC fleet will have a new three-event Mediterranean circuit in 2027. The Offshore Racing Congress has announced the International Med Circuit, created for Class 0 yachts and developed with host clubs in Sorrento, Scarlino and Palma de Mallorca.
The 25 September announcement gives teams a season-long framework rather than three unrelated regatta entries. It creates a series prize to be presented after the Palma finale, while detailed scoring and entry rules remain to be published.
The opening leg is part of Tre Golfi Sailing Week in Sorrento, 4–8 May 2027, organised by the Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia. The circuit then moves to Scarlino for the new Coppa Toscana from 21–27 June, hosted by Yacht Club Toscana.
The final event will take place within Copa del Rey MAPFRE in Palma, 31 July–7 August, under the Real Club Náutico de Palma. Each venue brings a different racing setting to the Mediterranean season.
The series will be open exclusively to Class 0 yachts with a valid ORC International certificate. The complete technical provisions and scoring arrangements will appear in the Notice of Series.
Teams should therefore treat the dates as the confirmed outline and wait for the notice before assuming how a particular regatta result will count towards the overall classification.
ORC reports 17 Class 0 entries at the 2025 European Championship, 15 at the 2026 World Championship and 14 at Copa del Rey in 2026. These are published historical participation figures rather than a forecast for the new circuit.
A linked programme offers owners a basis for planning crew availability, technical preparation and travel. It can also bring specialist support businesses into several established yacht destinations over the summer.
The overall winner will receive the ORC Challenge Paolo Massarini Trophy at the close of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE. The circuit is intended to reward performance across the full campaign.
Exact scoring and entry requirements are still to come. The announcement nevertheless gives racing teams a clear sequence of dates to include in their 2027 planning.
