Seakeeper 7.5 Adds Gyro Power in a Smaller Stabiliser Package

Seakeeper introduced its 7.5 gyrostabiliser in July as an evolution of its marine motion-control range. The company says it provides 25% more stabilising power in 20% less volume than the earlier Seakeeper 6.

The model is intended for approximately 45- to 54-foot boats rather than the largest superyachts. It remains relevant to the wider yacht-equipment industry and to the smaller craft, support boats and tenders that form part of many owners’ operations.

Power and volume matter together

A gyro’s physical envelope is a major part of an installation decision because machinery spaces also have to accommodate access and maintenance. More capacity within a similar footprint may give builders greater flexibility, but exact installation requirements must come from the engineering drawings.

Seakeeper also identifies changes to the 5 and 10.5 models as part of its July range update. The announcement is not simply a new badge on one model; it points to continued development across multiple sizes.

A place in the wider stabilisation system

The company describes integration with Seakeeper Ride as another part of its motion-control approach. The two systems address different vessel movements and their combined configuration must be specified for a particular hull.

Owners comparing a factory option with a later refit should account for foundations, electrical demand, cooling and service access. An advertised power-to-volume improvement is not a substitute for a naval architect’s installation review.

A specification to verify during build or refit

The new 7.5 is expected to begin shipping in the fourth quarter of 2026 according to the supplier. That expected date is not a guarantee that every model or territory will have installation stock immediately.

Builders and service yards can use the published specifications to assess suitability for forthcoming projects. Vessel length is only a starting point; displacement, operating profile and the manufacturer’s sizing guidance determine the appropriate system.

How the package is specified for a tender or support craft

Seakeeper's new model is aimed at boatbuilders and refit customers who must balance the stabiliser's output against machinery-space dimensions and the vessel's intended use. The company positions the 7.5 between smaller and larger units in its range, but a yacht team should choose from the manufacturer’s current sizing guidance rather than extrapolate from nominal boat length alone.

For superyacht tenders and chase boats, the practical questions include available electrical power, cooling and access for installation and later service. A gyro also forms only one element in a broader comfort plan: hull shape, weight distribution, passenger arrangement and operating profile still influence motion at anchor and underway. Builders should ask for a project-specific installation drawing and commissioning plan before reserving space or promising performance.
