SeaKing Boatbuilders launches SeaKing Stores chandlery at Leigh-on-Sea, adds Rockford Fosgate marine audio distribution and xTool Professional equipment alongside its 7MX build.

Chandlery returns to the Leigh-on-Sea waterfront

SeaKing Boatbuilders is expanding its Essex operation through the launch of SeaKing Stores, a chandlery and marine supply business connected to its manufacturing yard in Leigh-on-Sea. British Marine announced the development on 1 October 2026, placing the planned chandlery reopening alongside new audio and advanced-manufacturing partnerships.

SeaKing describes the store as a commercial point of contact for boat owners, yards, fit-out businesses and suppliers, bringing materials, specialist equipment and demonstrations together at the waterfront premises. This is a developing service and supply operation rather than an announced new superyacht shipyard, and the size of its in-house boatbuilding projects should not be confused with large-yacht construction.

Marine audio distribution forms one strand

The company has agreed a partnership with Audiomotive, the exclusive UK distributor for Rockford Fosgate, under which it will act as Rockford Marine UK. SeaKing says the arrangement gives it marine exclusivity for the performance audio brand in the United Kingdom, with the business seeking relationships with installers, marine designers and other boatbuilders.

Installation of audio equipment on boats involves more than selecting speaker power. Saltwater exposure, moisture ingress, cable routes, amplifier cooling, electrical interference and speaker placement affect longevity and sound quality. A distributor with access to boatbuilding facilities may be able to demonstrate complete marine installations, but prospective customers should confirm component-specific warranty, ingress protection and technical support.

Equipment demonstrations in a working yard

SeaKing is also acting as a UK sales partner for xTool Professional and MetalFab equipment. Its update says xTool P3 and MetalFab units have been installed at the yard, allowing visitors to see relevant fabrication technology working in an actual boatbuilding setting instead of a conventional sales showroom.

Laser cutting, fabrication and digital production tools are increasingly part of marine manufacturing, though suitability depends on the materials processed, extraction arrangements, safe operating methods and training. The equipment partnership could help connect specialist workshops with newer manufacturing processes, but it does not establish approval for every structural or safety-critical marine component.

A seven-metre production boat as an equipment showcase

Construction of SeaKing's first 7MX, also called the Seven Meter Cross, has moved into sheathing and exterior finishing. The builder plans a twin-V8 propulsion package with a combined stated output of around 500hp, and is limiting the 2026 production programme to two examples before advancing a further design in 2027.

The 7MX will also serve as an application platform for the Rockford Fosgate equipment. Its dimensions place it firmly in the small-craft sector, not within the main superyacht fleet, although specialist parts and fabrication methods used by smaller yards can also matter to the wider marine supply chain.

Why the combined business is relevant to yacht suppliers

Refit contractors, yacht tender technicians and smaller fabrication shops often benefit from nearby access to hardware, tools and specialist advice, especially where a vessel's work programme depends on difficult-to-source components. A chandlery that connects supplies with manufacturing experience may offer advantages beyond ordinary retail, provided stock, technical expertise and delivery services match customers' expectations.

SeaKing's announcement illustrates the relationship between manufacturing, marine distribution and after-sales support rather than establishing a new large-yacht delivery.
