Superyacht Forum Sets Four Workstreams for 2026 Industry Programme

The Superyacht Forum has set out four workstreams for its 16–17 November 2026 programme in Amsterdam, bringing the operating realities of large yachts into a wider industry debate. Its published framework divides the agenda into People, Project, Progress and Process, with each grouping focused on specific decisions facing builders, suppliers, managers and crews.

People: the industry’s workforce and development pipeline

The first workstream covers workforce and talent, careers and development, next-generation engagement and how the sector positions itself to potential recruits. This addresses an industry problem that cannot be solved by order-book growth alone: projects also need trained shipyard, technical and onboard personnel.

For captains and senior crew, the forum’s Crew Voices initiative provides another route into the programme, with participation designed to make onboard experience part of strategic discussions. This is a separate initiative from the ordinary exhibition programme and should not be mistaken for an announcement that crew numbers or registration are unlimited.

Project: innovation, sustainability and infrastructure

Under Project, the organiser lists innovation and future outlook, practical sustainability, infrastructure readiness and faster research and development. Those topics have direct relevance to shipyards deciding how to integrate new systems, and to marinas and refit centres adapting facilities for larger and more complex yachts.

An innovation that looks promising in a concept presentation may still depend on shore-side capacity, supplier readiness and the operating profile of a real yacht. The forum’s framework puts these dependencies in the same discussion rather than treating them as disconnected equipment stories.

Progress: construction and yacht lifecycle

The Progress theme covers build and lifecycle delivery, capacity pressures, safe and responsible design and operational complexity. The shift towards full-lifecycle thinking is relevant to owners as well as builders, because later maintenance, upgrades and crew access begin with decisions made in the design and construction stages.

The published programme is a subject framework, not a set of binding conclusions or a claim that all these challenges have already been resolved. Individual session details and speakers should be checked on the official programme as the event approaches.

Process: rules, information and trust

Process brings regulation and compliance, IMO and enforcement, data and trust, governance and integrity into the agenda. The heading captures the less visible systems that underpin safe yacht operation, from documentation and regulatory interpretation to credible information shared between owners, managers and service providers.

The Forum takes place at RAI Amsterdam on 16 and 17 November, ahead of and alongside Metstrade’s 17–19 November exhibition week. Delegates can use the workstreams to plan which sessions match their responsibilities, but the framework should not be represented as a new regulation or a policy decision taken by the event itself.
