52m Tankoa SPIRIT Makes Monaco World Premiere With Full-Hybrid Propulsion
Tankoa’s 52-metre full-custom M/Y SPIRIT has made its world premiere in Monaco, combining Vitruvius design with six guest cabins and full-hybrid propulsion.
Wally’s new Performance Trophy reaches its 2026 season finale at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez after a multi-event maxi-yacht racing campaign.
Wally’s inaugural Performance Trophy is reaching its 2026 conclusion at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, where the brand’s maxi and wallyrocket owners are completing a season that began in the Caribbean and moved through several of the Mediterranean’s leading regattas. The trophy was introduced this year to give Wally owners a season-long performance benchmark across multiple events.
The Wally Performance Trophy was created to recognise consistency across the season rather than rewarding only a single regatta result. At each event, the best-performing Wally yacht in the maxi and rocket categories earns recognition, with the season-long standings carrying through to the final event in Saint-Tropez.
That approach gives owners and crews another competitive layer beyond the trophies already awarded by individual regattas. It also helps connect events that use different courses, conditions and rating environments into one coherent Wally racing programme.
The Wally Class calendar began with the North Sound Maxi Regatta in March and continued through the Tre Golfi Sailing Week, Range Rover Sardinia Cup, Cyclades Cup, Loro Piana Giraglia and Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup before reaching Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. The sequence covers both offshore and inshore racing across varied Mediterranean conditions.
For superyacht owners, the calendar provides a structured route through several of the sport’s most established venues. Crews can develop boat handling and sail programmes over a full season rather than assembling only for one showcase event.
Wally’s newer wallyrocket51 fleet has grown quickly and forms a distinct part of the competitive programme. The design was developed specifically around modern rating rules and high-performance sailing, giving the class a more race-focused identity than the larger cruising-oriented Wally maxis.
The increasing number of boats creates closer one-design-style competition even though the wider Wally fleet remains diverse. That growth also gives the Performance Trophy a stronger sporting foundation because results are being generated by more yachts rather than a very small group of repeat participants.
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez runs from 26 September to 4 October and is the final scheduled Wally Class event of the 2026 programme. The combination of modern maxis, classic yachts and large sailing yachts gives the event a broader context than a single-brand regatta while still allowing the Wally fleet to conclude its own season ranking.
Superyacht Guide is treating the Saint-Tropez appearance as the culmination of the first Wally Performance Trophy season rather than announcing a final winner before racing is complete. The definitive 2026 trophy outcome will depend on the remaining results and should be reported separately once confirmed.
