Electrical parts supplier Waytek signs a North American distribution agreement for Xantrex inverters, inverter-chargers and chargers, with marine power-system relevance.
Waytek and Xantrex have announced a distribution partnership that will make Xantrex power inverters, inverter-chargers and battery chargers available through Waytek's North American supply channels. The agreement, dated 10 September 2026, is aimed principally at Waytek's existing mobile, commercial and specialty-equipment customer base, while Xantrex's broader portfolio also includes products designed for marine installations.
This is a distribution development rather than the release of a newly invented inverter. The value for marine service providers depends on whether the specific Xantrex model, its electrical certification and its stock position match the vessel's technical requirements. Waytek says the collaboration broadens the power-conversion options offered to customers, while Xantrex is seeking to reach an expanded group of integrators and equipment manufacturers.
An inverter converts direct-current energy from a battery bank into alternating-current electricity for selected onboard appliances and equipment. An inverter-charger combines that function with charging capability when shore power, generator supply or another suitable AC source is available. These functions can reduce generator running time for certain modest loads, but the operating profile depends on battery capacity, charging rates, conversion losses and peak electrical demand.
Marine installations demand more than a suitable headline wattage. A designer must verify the input-voltage system, wiring protection, transfer arrangements, conductor sizing, fault handling, ventilation and operating environment. The conversion unit must also be selected against an agreed list of loads, particularly if refrigerators, pumps, galley equipment or air-conditioning compressors create short-lived surges that exceed their normal running power.
Xantrex's existing Freedom XC PRO Marine range illustrates the type of marine-specific equipment available within its portfolio, although the partnership statement does not provide a model-by-model list of products carried by Waytek. Xantrex describes the range as supporting NMEA 2000 integration, configurable charging and 2,000W or 3,000W inverter outputs depending on model. The accompanying image is an original Xantrex manufacturer photograph of the Freedom XC PRO Marine unit, not an image of a particular installation.
Where such equipment is fitted to a yacht tender, chase boat, crew utility craft or separate auxiliary electrical system, its installation should follow the manufacturer's actual marine datasheet and relevant electrical standards. It is especially important not to infer that every Xantrex product sold through a general-purpose distributor has the same marine certifications, ingress protection or suitability for a salt-laden machinery space.
Waytek is a family-owned specialty distributor based in Chanhassen, Minnesota, supplying wiring, connectors and DC electrical components to original-equipment manufacturers and commercial installers. Xantrex is part of Mission Critical Electronics and makes power-conversion and management products for multiple sectors, including boats, recreational vehicles and specialised mobile equipment.
For a superyacht engineering department, the development may be most relevant to replacement sourcing, tender electrical upgrades or a contractor's access to compatible inverter and charger components. It does not constitute an announced superyacht contract or a confirmed stock guarantee for an individual model. Before purchasing, the marine technician should confirm product documentation, lead time, manufacturer support and after-sales arrangements.
