H2 Yacht Design Shows Wellness Approach on 87.7m ANGELIQUE
H2 Yacht Design has described how the 87.7-metre Turquoise-built ANGELIQUE integrates a panoramic gym and adjoining spa spaces into the yacht's overall layout.
More than 40 yacht-industry professionals joined a Smart Interiors Horizon workshop at Zuretti Design in Nice to discuss practical decisions about responsible interior materials.
A new account of the Smart Interiors Horizon workshop describes more than 40 representatives of the yachting industry meeting at Zuretti Design's atelier in Nice on 21 September 2026. The event brought together the people involved in specifying, supplying and fitting out yacht interiors, rather than concentrating only on finished spaces. The detailed account was published by PressMare on 14 October.
Participants reportedly included shipyards, suppliers, interior contractors, designers and owner representatives. That mix matters because sustainability decisions are rarely made by one party alone. A designer may identify an appealing material, but a contractor must be able to install it, a yard must assess compliance and an owner ultimately needs something durable, serviceable and appropriate to the vessel.
The organisers asked participants to work through scenarios from the standpoint of a different stakeholder and to identify the obstacles that might prevent more responsible decisions. This method aims to make competing requirements visible early, including budget limits, technical approvals, supplier documentation and the amount of time available before a fit-out reaches its production deadline.
Such an exercise can expose a simple problem: each participant may expect somebody else to supply the evidence needed to justify a product. Owners seeking an environmentally preferable finish need more than a general marketing claim. They should be able to ask where it comes from, how it is made, whether it meets marine requirements and what happens when components need replacement.
The meeting also gave attendees an opportunity to test a shared Smart Materials Library being developed by Smart Interiors Horizon under the Water Revolution Foundation. The concept is to make information about materials and suppliers easier to find and compare. Workshop feedback is expected to influence the resource before its wider adoption by the superyacht supply chain.
A searchable reference is only valuable if the underlying data remain current and independently understandable. Fire performance, emissions, cleaning requirements, repairability and provenance may be as important as a material's nominal environmental credentials. No single library can replace the class, flag and engineering checks required for an installation on a particular yacht.
The organisers intend to use the lessons from Nice to improve the library and bring early findings to The Superyacht Forum in Amsterdam. Another industry workshop is planned for 2027. Those steps suggest an ongoing collaborative project, rather than a claim that a new certification system or universally approved materials list has already been completed.
For large-yacht owners and refit teams, the immediate lesson is procedural: involve engineering, purchasing, operations and maintenance representatives early enough to challenge a specification. Transparent documentation can make it easier to select a material for the right reasons and to revisit that decision years later when refit works begin.
