HMY Britannia is the former Royal Yacht built at Clydebank for the Admiralty by John Brown & Co. (Clydebank) Ltd. Launched by Queen Elizabeth II on 16 April 1953, she was completed and accepted by the Admiralty on 11 January 1954 and served the Royal Family until her decommissioning in December 1997.
The original 1954 technical paper records a length overall of 412 ft 3 in (125.65 m), a beam of 55 ft (16.76 m), mean draught of 15 ft 7½ in (4.76 m) and gross tonnage of 5,769. Her geared steam-turbine machinery was rated at 12,000 shaft horsepower, with a continuous seagoing speed of 21 knots; measured-mile trials reached 22.85 knots. Britannia is preserved at Leith, Edinburgh.
