Varnebank began life as a working North Sea trawler before undergoing a comprehensive conversion for longer-distance private cruising. Fraser describes a steel vessel intended for offshore passages and a form of ownership centred on practical independence at sea.

Her accommodation is advertised for as many as ten guests in five cabins, with the yacht configured for operation with a relatively small crew. These figures reflect the broker's published particulars rather than independent verification of her current certification or equipment condition.

What a buyer should examine

A converted commercial yacht can present a different inspection programme from that of a purpose-built recreational yacht of similar length. The original hull, conversion records, machinery history and classification or survey status warrant close scrutiny, particularly when extensive passages are intended.
