24m YYachts FITZROVIA Joins IYC Charter Fleet as First Hybrid Y8

IYC has added the 24-metre sailing yacht FITZROVIA to its global charter fleet, bringing a newly delivered hybrid yacht into the market at the threshold of the superyacht sector. Built by YYachts and delivered in 2026, FITZROVIA is the first hybrid-powered yacht in the yard's Y8 series.

The addition is notable because it combines a performance-oriented sailing platform with the quiet-operating advantages increasingly sought by charter clients. IYC says the hybrid system allows silent electric cruising in anchorages and protected waters, while the yacht retains the sailing characteristics for which the Y8 line was developed.

First hybrid-powered Y8

FITZROVIA was designed by Javier Jaudenes of Surge Projects, with interiors by David Thulstrup and the YYachts design team. Her lightweight carbon construction is intended to support sailing performance while allowing the yacht to carry the equipment required for modern cruising and charter use.

The hybrid installation gives the yacht an alternative operating mode when low noise and reduced local emissions are priorities. That is especially relevant in anchorages, harbours and sensitive coastal areas, where silent operation can materially improve the guest experience as well as reduce disturbance around the yacht.

Charter layout focuses on space and outdoor living

IYC describes FITZROVIA as offering accommodation for up to eight guests in four cabins. Her arrangement combines a large social cockpit and broad sunbathing areas with a light-filled interior, giving charter groups several distinct spaces without losing the open character expected from a modern performance sailing yacht.

The Y8 platform also places emphasis on usable interior volume and stability. For charter clients, that means the attraction is not limited to sailing performance: the yacht is intended to function as a comfortable cruising platform for families and couples spending extended periods aboard.

Hybrid sailing yachts move further into charter

Hybrid propulsion is becoming an increasingly visible part of new-yacht development, but its use in sailing yachts is particularly interesting because propulsion demand differs substantially from that of large motor yachts. A sailing yacht can use battery capacity strategically for harbour manoeuvring, hotel loads and quiet periods without depending on propulsion machinery continuously.

FITZROVIA's arrival on the charter market gives clients an opportunity to experience that operating model directly. It also gives YYachts and IYC a real-world platform through which owners and charterers can assess how hybrid technology affects noise, comfort and day-to-day use rather than treating the system as a purely technical specification.
