Northrop & Johnson is marketing the 37m explorer yacht ORPHEUS for $18.5 million, highlighting her seven guest staterooms and award-winning contemporary interior.

A recently delivered explorer enters the brokerage market

Northrop & Johnson has announced the listing of the 37-metre Numarine explorer ORPHEUS, which is being offered for USD 18.5 million through broker Richard Higgins. The vessel was delivered in 2025 and joins the brokerage market with a relatively recent build history rather than a proposal for construction.

The selling broker presents ORPHEUS as a long-distance cruising platform that is intended to combine a practical explorer arrangement with the comforts associated with contemporary private-yacht ownership. The appeal lies in assessing an actual operating vessel rather than buying into a future programme with an uncertain delivery date.

The asking figure establishes the seller’s public expectations, not a valuation independently verified by Superyacht Guide. A buyer should compare actual equipment, condition and regulatory circumstances against other explorer vessels before drawing conclusions about price.

Full-displacement construction and diesel performance

The brokerage describes a full-displacement hull and engines rated at approximately 900 horsepower, with equipment presented as meeting IMO Tier III emissions requirements. Reported cruising speed is twelve knots, and the stated top speed is fourteen knots.

Those performance figures suit the yacht’s emphasis on extended cruising rather than high-speed passage-making, but range and operating economics cannot be determined from speed figures alone. Prospective owners should examine fuel consumption curves, tank capacities and the loads imposed by auxiliary machinery and hotel services.

The yacht also has zero-speed stabilisers, designed to improve comfort when at anchor, and the listing refers to an extended one-year warranty. Purchasers should request the actual warranty terms and any restrictions rather than assuming the coverage transfers automatically with a sale.

Award-winning interiors and seven-stateroom flexibility

ORPHEUS has a custom interior by Sturge & Toth, recognised with the Best Interior Under 40 Metres award at the 2026 International Yacht & Aviation Awards. The scheme makes extensive use of glazing and contemporary materials, giving the main guest areas an unusually open and light-filled atmosphere.

A fold-out balcony next to the formal dining area is intended to connect the inside of the yacht more directly with the sea. Such features can transform guest experience at anchor, although their safe use depends on operating limits, weather and the platform’s documented engineering and inspection history.

The broker highlights seven staterooms, a noteworthy number for a yacht of this length. The arrangement should be reviewed in the context of the intended guest group, privacy needs and the separation of crew working routes from the social areas.

What owners should establish before inspection

Explorer-yacht buying decisions must accommodate a wide range of possible operating profiles, from sheltered Mediterranean cruising to longer passages where engineering resilience and stores capacity become more important. The correct comparison is therefore not simply which vessel offers the most guest rooms, but which one suits the voyages planned.

The age of ORPHEUS may mean some systems are still close to their original installation condition, but that should be checked through a formal survey and maintenance records. Any applicable classifications, emissions certificates and warranty documents should be reviewed by specialists familiar with the yacht’s flag and intended use.

Northrop & Johnson is inviting enquiries about the vessel, but current availability and the contents of any purchase package require direct confirmation. The new listing adds another recent Numarine explorer to the market for owners seeking established rather than speculative capacity.
